Bodily autonomy vs OB plan
I was a patient of Dr. Anne J Rhee OB from June 2024 until November 2024 at the Mount Sinai West Location. .First, I want to acknowledge the amazing nurses and secretary who were always kind and professional.Dr. Rhee came highly recommended-- known for successful VBAC deliveries. I had traumatic birth and I wanted a OB who was supportive of a VBAC. I was very excited to have found Dr. Rhee. Our first consultation was straightforward --questions were asked and answered. Her demeanor was appropriate though there were moments of a bit abruptness which I didn't pay that any mind to. I liked that she onboard with use of peanut ball & movements during labor! I liked how she communicated via Mychart. Subsequent prenatal appointments with her I noticed she became increasingly dismissive and abrupt. The visit that prompted me to transfer care was we discussed my Birth Preference and induction. I realized, I could no longer trust her to adhere my simple wish of minimal interventions.

Weight shamed moments after giving birth
I was very disappointed when my regular OB, who I loved, was unavailable when I went into labor. On the way to the hospital I hoped that Dr. Rhee, who I had met for a lightning-fast appointment where she showed very little interest in me and rushed through, wouldn't be the on-call doctor, but she was. When I arrived and was admitted she asked me if my water had broken and I responded that I wasn't sure, I hadn't felt anything. She checked and seemed irritated that my water had broken. While I was pushing she scolded me if I made any noise of discomfort. Once my daughter was born, but before I had met her and literally as I was being stitched up, Dr. Rhee started to tell me I needed to lose weight because my daughter (a perfectly average 8lbs, 6oz.) was "too big" and the next baby would be bigger if I didn't get my weight under control. This was highly unprofessional and will forever stain my memory of my only birth experience. Do NOT recommend.

1. Unprofessional: she did not bother to read my radiology report until we are in her office when the report was sent to her almost 2 week ago. There was a finding on the report she was questioning and did not know exactly what it was. But she did not bother to check with the radiologist before we came to her office. 2. Terrible Attitude: Impatient to listen to my problem, doesn’t care about at all, keep interrupting without patience and without empathy. Extremely rude. We have been living in New York for over 20 years, and we have seen a lot of doctors in this city, She is by far the WORST one we have seen ever.

Direct and Precise Doctor
Dr. Rhee was my OBGYN - although she was not physically present for my labor and delivery. I’m thankful for her care and guidance throughout the 9 months. She is a very direct person who cuts straight to the point. She kept me in check when it came to my health and weight gain. Thanks to her I felt the structure I needed to have the healthy and happy pregnancy I did. She was very helpful and knew what she was talking about. If you prefer to have things sugar coated -she’s not the right fit for you. She will be my go to for my future pregnancies.

In 2007, Dr. Rhee delivered my first baby who was stillborn. She showed little compassion, told me it was God’s plan and asked how my baby was doing at my first post-natal check up. I answered, “dead.” Then she looked at my file and asked me not to tell my husband she asked that. I don’t know what else to say other than I wish I had had a different ob/gyn. Even all these years later my experience with Dr. Rhee still haunts me.

Dr. Rhee is one of the best doctors I've met. She is extremely knowledgeable, direct and a true professional. She goes above and beyond for her patients and listens to any personal needs/ preferences. She guided both of my complicated pregnancies and delivered my second. I couldn't have asked for a better care! I chose to drive more than an hour each way just to keep seeing her after moving away, and I'm so glad I did. Thank you Dr. Rhee!!

Doctor Rhee is a wonderful doctor. I can't tell you how fortunate I feel to have had her as my obstetrician for my first childbirth. In the months before and during my childbirth I always felt confident and safe in her care. She has been attentive to all of my questions and concerns and I cannot recommend her enough- she is a superb physician!

Dr. Rhee delivered our first child. She is an outstanding doctor, and I give my strongest recommendation. She is the most responsive doctor we've ever worked with. When my water broke, she came to the hospital to see us at 3 AM even though she wasn't on duty that night, and she checked on us throughout the day. I had a lot of water and the baby was in a bad position, but she somehow delivered naturally. Its been a couple of weeks and both the mom and the baby are doing great.

As a first time mom, I spent numerous hours researching OBGYNs before choosing Dr. Rhee and her practice. I was firmly set on a intervention free, pain free, natural birth at the birthing center at Mount Sinai West. Dr Rhee was completely on board with my wishes and birth plan. The practice includes three other female OBGYNs as well as a midwife. My appointments were pretty much ALWAYS on time. If I had to wait, it wasn’t for more than 5-10 minutes. As someone who has a very busy schedule, I a
