Great Doctor
I had a wisdom tooth extracted and there was no pain or fear. I would highly recommend Dr. Petito. The front desk is very caring and efficient.

No transparency
A word to the wise. My experience was unsatisfactory. The doctor never explained that my insurance provider required the surgeon provide a narrative indicating short term anesthesia was medically necessary. When the insurance provider requested it, he declined saying it was not his responsibility and I should see my PCP. I have high blood pressure, a pacemaker and had anxiety concerns. The request was for the surgeon’s narrative and his rejection resulted in a coverage rejection. The doctor also requires full payment up front but one minor reimbursement took 3 months to send to me. The bottom line is it cost me almost $1000 and aggravation for what was called a simple extraction. The only shining light was Cheryl in administration who was pleasant, patient and professional during this experience. “Best in RI” must be a clerical error. Let the patient beware!

I went to get my wisdom teeth out just yesterday. Although I am younger I can tell when I have a good or bad experience, and let me tell you this experience was terrible. There were so many people in the room, I was so nervous and no one tried to calm me down even though they could see me stressing out. The nurse was holding my head down, pressing my head down which was unacceptable, and my mom had asked about the procedure before I went in because she was not aloud to go in because of Covid but the nurse (who also held my head down) talked to us like we were stupid and said to Dr. Petito that my mom was getting on her nerves while I was right there on the chair. Overall, this experience felt rushed, I did not feel comfortable and no one tried to make me feel comfortable, and I thought it was very unprofessional of the nurse and even the doctor to be talking about my mom in the way they did especially since they should be used to parents and patients asking similar questions.

I have been trying to schedule APICO surgery since August. While Dr. Petito may come highly recommended, his office staff is the most dysfunctional I've ever experienced anywhere. They send no notifications for appointments, no information, calls or online follow through. When I went in to fill out a huge amount of paperwork in October, the small waiting room was overcrowded in a pandemic. The paperwork and evaluation was a useless exercise given there's been no response since. When I questioned the hold-up in early November, I was told they were waiting for confirmation from Cigna. When I produced documents showing Cigna had responded on Sept. 30, I was told "Your insurance company lied." Now I'm told they're waiting for Blue Cross before scheduling surgery. I have had to initiate all communications. It's December. I'm still waiting. I would never recommend anyone deal with this crew. Thankfully I've found another dentist with good communication and a helpful office staff.

I saw Dr Petito for extractions Maybe the worst dental experience of my life A year later the extraction still has not healed and he refuses to recognize that I have a whole in my mouth. Get a second opinion before allowing him to perform any procedure

I don't normally leave reviews but want to help others who are looking for a top Oral Surgeon. I have been going to Dr. Petito for over 10 years. I have seen other Oral Surgeon's in the past and none compare. I absolutely will not even go to anyone other than Dr. Petito after having poor experiences with others. Dr. Petito is an incredibly gifted individual with a kind, caring manner. He and his Staff have always been professional, thorough and highly competent. I've always had nothing but positive experiences with his Staff and himself. I cannot emphasis enough the skill and top notch care he provides. This is an EXCELLENT Doctor!

I don't ever comment on these sites, but I have to set the record straight about Dr. Petito. I too had some issues after surgery, but I was told clearly that these things could happen. I too had stretching of the corners of my mouth but it was because my teeth were difficult and not anyone's fault. I too, heard joking and laughter, but I took it to mean it was a happy office, and the staff were happy to be there. The desk staff is not warm and fuzzy, but they were professional and very competent

I was 'ok' with Dr. Petito. The only complain I have about him is that he ripped the heck out of the ends of my mouth while removing my wisdom teeth. He must have skipped using any lubricant on them after he put me to sleep. I looked horrible and couldn't laugh for a week with scabs on both sides of my mouth. My main complain is about his staff. My husband said the staff were very unprofessional - laughing very loud & gossiping standing next to me while I was asleep.

! had a very positive experience with Dr Petito - competent and pleasant. However, I found his office help not so much so. I was led to believe that my Medicare insurance did not cover this proceedure.. On a return visit upon questioning her further I found out that it is this doctor that does not accept Medicare Insusrance.. Had I known, I may have tried to locate a doctor tkat did.a ccept Mecicare.

Dr Petito appears to be a quality surgeon with excellent bedside manner. However, his administrative staff is horrific. Rude to the point of nasty, I looked elsewhere for this reason. It would be in Dr. Petito's best interest to invest in some training for his front desk staff when speaking with patients. The staff should always keep in mind how their salary is paid and that they are a direct representation of Dr. Petito.

When I was scheduling my procedure I explained that I would need nitrous because of my high anxiety. The woman responded by telling me they used nitrous with children and that adults shouldn't need it. Then, during the procedure, the combination of oxygen and nitrous was not high enough and didn't relieve my anxiety. I called the office the next day, explained what happened and requested my money back b/c insurance didn't cover it. I called several times and Dr. Petito refused to call me back.
