Never know…
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Artis’ for 10 yrs. There are 3 specific things that caused me to find another Dr. She’s knowledgeable, but you never know what you’re going to get. Bedside manner is sometimes great, but other times almost rude. That is not what I need from a Dr.. The second thing is, I am a woman in my mid-50’s, and we’ve been watching my A1C levels for several years. In late ‘23, I had bloodwork done, and her office called me to following week and said that I needed to come back in and meet with Dr. Artis in person. It scared me to death - I thought she was going to tell me something terrible- turns out she just needed to recheck my blood again due to a problem on their end. That’s ridiculous - not even an apology. The message wasn’t given to me by her staff as it was just to get blood drawn. And lastly, I had an issue last summer; my ear swelled terrible - I thought I had an ear infection, and she refused to see me - she had her nurse change it to a video appt.

I saw Dr. Artis on 4/20/21 for a new patient physical and to say that my experience was interesting is an understatement. Let's review: First, she opens the conversation by letting me know that if I've not been vaccinated then she won't be in the room very long and even after I told her that I had received my first shot and my second is in two weeks, she continued to remind me that she won't be in the room long on several other occasions. Trying to be a diligent patient, I bought all of my recent labs and tests from my OBGYN and to that she said, "I don't read other doctors' labs." She went on to say over and over again how the labs were all over the place, she couldn't understand them, etc. These labs were performed by Labcorp; surely this couldn't be the first time she saw lab results from one of the biggest testing labs in the country. She relied on me to tell her what the labs said, which I did. Next, while examining me she suddenly yells, "Is your phone on? Are you recording?

I wish I could leave a negative star. I’ve never felt so bad after a doctor visit. I felt like I was bothering her when I was simply attempting to get help for a medical concern. She was rude, talked over me and simply pushed me to another physician. She is no way tried to help me.

It’s obvious that Dr. Artis has a depth of knowledge and experience in the medical field. However she comes off very smug and full of attitude to the point where it feels like outright disrespect. It’s highly unpleasant to deal with a medical professional who just doesn’t have great people skills.

Smug and disrespectful. Appeared to have a pre-determined course of treatment that was incongruent with my individual needs. Would not engage in discussion and continued to just ask 'check list' questions instead of taking the time to listen and respond to me. Her terrible listening skills were demonstrated by parroting identical stock responses over again, which was insulting. Delayed effective treatment and caused needless psychological stress. Very bad experience.
