Dr. Apwinder Kaur, MD

Dr. Kaur was my psychiatrist for several years before she left the UPMC practice at which I saw her. I had all video appointments with her but was always given the utmost care, concern and professionalism. I saw her regarding treatment for Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety. I saw Dr. Kaur for the first time at my absolute worst, as I had been given a medication (and a very high dose of it) by an experienced PCP which was not right for me. Dr. Kaur quickly and correctly assessed that I should not be on the medication, and worked with me to wean me off. Trusting her through tough times in my personal life which fed my depression and anxiety, and by adjusting medications according to her suggestions, I am finally in the most mentally and emotionally stable condition I have been since my diagnoses 17 years ago. I trust her implicitly and was sad to see her go. I intend to resume as a patient with her as soon as she gets reestablished.

I was a patient with Dr. Kaur during my pregnancy and through the next three years post-partum. She was always helpful and took my concerns seriously. She provided me with clear and logical reasons for her decisions, ensuring that I was part of the process of getting the care I needed. Dr. Kaur was always patient and never rushed through the appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Kaur.

Dr. Kaur is a very good doctor who cares and is non-judgmental. Her treatment plan changed my life for the better.

Dr. Kaur always makes me feel comfortable to discuss how I am feeling. She is a great listener who is very empathetic and caring. She genuinely cares about her patients. When I talk to Dr. Kaur, I feel heard and understood and never judged. She is the best!

Dr Kaur is caring, considerate, & kind. She has helped me so much throughout my journey with mental illness. I couldn’t be more appreciative of her professionalism.

Didn’t listen to my concerns about side effects I was having on a new medication. Told me that they couldn’t happen. After changing medication I asked about mixing the 2 mood stabilizer I was on and she said it was fine, but then wouldn’t approve a refill of the one antidepressant. Even called the office to get her to approve the refill. Never happened. Never going back.

She feeds you pills like candy. That is her fix.

My experience with Dr Kaur has been excellent. She has good listening skills and great medical knowledge. I would strongly recommend her to anyone seeking Psychiatric help.
