Dr. Ardavan Akhavan, MD

Dr. Akhavan is an outstanding doctor and surgeon. Our child needed a very complex surgery, and he delivered a successful result. He explained the entire procedure to us in detail, answered all of our questions and was available to us any time we needed to reach out at a moment's notice. Our entire family is very grateful to Dr. Akhavan and his entire team at Cornell, including Amanda and Teresa who are simply phenomenal.

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Akhavan and his team for the exceptional care they provided during my son's hypospadias repair. Dr. Arkhavan's attention to detail and compassionate care were truly outstanding. He took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure and answer all of our questions, putting us at ease throughout the process. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Arkhavan to anyone in need of expert pediatric urological care.

Dr Akhavan is very attentive and caring. He performed bilateral ureteral reimplantation on our daughter when she was 16 months old. She had some complications but Dr Akhavan helped us get through it. He cured her reflux and still monitors her periodically. He showed up to check on us whenever we were in the hospital and always called/messaged us back quickly.. these are things that really stand out to stressed out parents when dealing with scary situations. Thank you to Dr Akhavan and everyone else on his team.

Great doctor! Glad we saw him for a second opinion, explained everything in scientific terms, unlike the first doctor we saw and confirmed my suspicion about the need to have an invasive procedure recommended by the first doctor. Very sharp, personable and professional, a great example of what an open minded doctor should be like!

Dr. Akhavan was HIGHLY recommended by all the nurses and pediatricians we spoke to. Our o/b told us it that there was some webbing that prevented us from having the circumcision done in the nursery. We saw Dr. Akhavan a few weeks later and he did the circumcision in his office without having to put him to sleep. Dr. Akhavan did a FANTASTIC job!

Dr. Akhavan did our sons circumcision in his office with local anesthesia after all the other doctors wanted us to wait to do it in the operating room under general anesthesia. He really was wonderful.

30+ minutes late. Definitely broke HIPAA discussing procedures IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WAITING ROOM (I literally overheard the nurse talking about a procedure with another patient). At the end of the procedure, they dropped off my baby in the waiting room and just left - I was the only one in the entire department for 15+ minutes while he was just screaming in pain - no receptionists, no nurses, no doctors, all the other patients had finished their visits and left. Couldn't find a nurse or anyone to help the entire time. Just me with a screaming baby who was clearly in pain after his procedure, but literally no support beyond that. They just wanted to go home and didn't care about their last patient of the day. We're probably switching to a different pediatrician simply because our last one referred us to Akhavan. His office was that bad.

Dr. Akhavan and the rest of his office staff are truly exceptional.  When our son had his kidney issues at birth, we were obviously concerned.  Dr. Akhavan not only set us at ease, but also instilled confidence in us that all would be well.  He took the time to thoroughly explain our son's condition and how he was going to treat it, which only gave us further comfort. We would recommend anyone who has a need for a pediatric urologist to contact Dr. Akhavan.

We had the pleasure of having Dr. Akhavan when he was a doc in Baltimore,md. He made me feel comfortable as a parent he explained things so I could understand what was going on with my son.. Thanks to Dr. A my son has had no problems and his surgery was two years ago. He is a wonderful man and a wonderful doctor.
