This man saved my life 13 years ago - 5-STARS
Dr. Shakir has been my cardiologist ever since he saved my life 13 years ago when I had a heart attack at 59 years of age. I am appalled at the negative reviews I just read attacking Dr. Shakir's 'bedside manners.' There is a cardiologist for everyone who needs one and Dr. Shakir was a God send into my life the day I made my way to Heart Hospital South (the best in Oklahoma City IMO) six hours after waking up in Southern California with a heart attack. As a former Marine and retired Naval Aviator I am embarrassed to reveal I was undisciplined and allowed myself to become a fat, unhealthy individual by age 59. I did not know I was diabetic until after Dr. Shakir saved my life. God knew who I needed as my cardiologist 'coach' who does not shy away from telling me the truth about what are my responsibilities to lose weight, eat healthy and exercise to improve my cardio-vascular system and to defeat my Type-2 diabetes. Dr. Shakir is the perfect cardiologist for me and now my wife too!

Dr. Shakir was thorough with his evaluation during my visit. He spoke about my health using words I understand. His staff was friendly and helpful. I'll go back to him for any cardiac care I may need.

This man may have an MD behind his name, but I have a feeling he graduated last in his class. He is rude, egotistical, pompous, and has a horrible bedside manner. He treats his patients as if they are stupid and don't know their own body. He tried to tell me how to live with a condition I have had for over 18 years, again as if I was stupid. He is also condescending. He prescribed medication for me that almost landed me back in the hospital. Thankfully my cardiologist intervened, saving me from this man's ignorance. He padded my hospital bill with many unnecessary procedures, including two visits to the cath lab when one visit would have bee sufficient. He shouldn't be allowed to practice medicine. He is a bad doctor, period!

Billed insurance for service never given.. billed insurance for emergency services yet we waited for an hour to be seen.. billed for exam yet never touched my husband in any way.. nurse wrote an in-depth assessment note including breath and bowel soundsand much much more yet never performed any assessment beyond pulse oximeter and blood pressure..... scheduled heart catheterization because he can perform and bill for it when less invasive .... All about the money.... Registering formal complaint

When I was at the Heart Hospital south in okc twice in one week, I was assigned to dr. Shakir. Neither time did he take any minimal time to tell me what was happening to me. And on follow up appointments, he wasn’t correct in specific info re my case. And the office staff wasn’t able to follow up the issues with my spine doctor. I had to do all the “footwork “ time after time. His bedside manner is awful

We find Dr. Shakir to be argumentative, forgetful, inpatient and uncompassionate. He discontinued one medication and upon another visit he said he didn't and wants us to continue with the medication. Once we got home we found the document that says discontinue use. He literally argued us down over this which is pointless. He made us feel like we were crazy. More importantly we just aren't receiving the level of care that we need or expect.
