Disappointed
He was nice enough but did not have knowledge of Celiac disease yet still performed my endoscopy. I was gluten free for 8 months prior to the appointment. He scheduled the endoscopy and colonoscopy for a week after our consult. I asked if I should consume gluten and was told “if you feel like it, it doesn’t really matter.” I made the mistake of trusting him and upon further research many months later, across many medical website it states gluten must be consumed a minimum of 2 weeks but often 6-8 weeks before diagnosis in order to show inflammation of the Villi and make the diagnosis. And yet I was scheduled 1 week later and told it did not matter if I ate gluten. This means I went through discomfort and frustration of this procedure for no reason and will have to repeat it if I want a diagnosis. I’m very disappointed.
