A Huge Relief!
Dr. Cogar has great “down to earth” communication skills. I felt so relieved. She is a meaningful listener - therefore understood the complexity of my overall health situation rather than just focusing on the repair of my right hand. She exudes absolute caring, and smiles with energy and her whole being - I left my first appointment with Dr. Cogar with the ultimate trust.First impressions matter so much!Firstly, Dr. Cogar’s Physical Therapy team reached out to me when I was struggling with orthopedic therapy. I was so grateful for their immediate and very helpful response - I was not their patient. Kindness and understanding going above and beyond! Thank you! They suggested I call Dr. Cogar for the necessary treatment. So, I did. Jennifer answered the phone and I just knew I was reaching out to the right place. Clearly Jennifer absolutely loves her job! All the vibes were welcoming, and extremely professional - as were ALL the staff I went on to interact with at my first appointment.

Incredibly skilled
Dr. Cogar is an incredibly skilled and thorough surgeon. I’ve experienced her work first hand and through physical therapy have seen others come in with great success stories of their surgeries they’ve received from her. The physical therapists who work on Dr. Cogar’s patients all dote on her and recommend her for the procedure I need. I enjoy my visits ans she always has a warm nature and is welcoming and kind. She is a great doctor. Would recommend to anyone.

Amazing!!!!
Dr Cogar knew exactly what the issues were with my hand upon examination. My surgery was successful and I had no pain afterwards. Her bedside manner was very reassuring and intent of detail. I felt informed and well cared for every step of the way.

Dr. Cogar is very sharp! My wife had some pain in her wrist from a fall at the airport. We had been to two other doctors where we did x rays, but they didn’t catch the problem. Dr Cogar suggested an MRI where she found my wife had broken a metacarpal. Good catch,

Poor Experience
I had no problem getting in to see the PA. They ordered an MRI of my arm but, apparently did not order it high enough on the arm to determine source of severe pain in my bicep. I have a severely torn tendon above the elbow but even worse pain above that. Now they say I need to see a different doctor for a bicep injury. Did not return phone calls. Will not go there again.

Glad I trusted my gut
Something told me when I went in for thumb joint pain and she’s telling me “just call this number to schedule the surgery” regarding carpal tunnel (which I’ve already had) or ulnar nerve entrapment that something was just off. I got another opinion—Dr. more local to me gave me a shot IN THE JOINT that I was asking about, and it has helped lots. He said if surgery is needed, it’s a small clip of a tendon in my mid-thumb area (not wrist, not elbow). I cannot imagine going through a surgery and being left with the pain I was trying to be seen about!!! Yikes!!!!

Misdiagnosis
Went in because I’ve had excruciating pain for some time. Dr. cogar ordered a nerve test. That conclusion was I had nerve damage in my thumb. She claimed I had MINOR carpal tunnel and said to wear a brace for 3 months to see if it got better. It did not get better so I had to plead my case just to have her order an MRI. MRI results came back that I had a 6mm ganglion cyst in between my trapezoid and trapezium bones. I had to change the PA’s mind that i did not have carpal tunnel still even after the results from my MRI were printed off and sitting right in front of her. PA also suggested i get an MRI on my neck because the cyst wouldn’t cause me pain apparently. Her PA injected a steroid shot in it that only made it worse. THEN, I call 10 days later to tell them it never got better and it feels worse now. And they still wanted me to wait and see. Oh, and when I left the day I had to convince the PA I didn’t have CT, her and Dr, cogar were laughing at me as I walked out. :)

HORRIBLE ALL AROUND EXPERIENCE
Scheduled an appointment with Dr. Cogar 2 months out. Drove over 3 hours to see Dr. Cogar and after arriving and filling out new patient forms, I notice the documents your signing is informing you that you may not always see your physician that you expect because they a have a slew of different Dr's for this office. Well guess what I didn't even get a Dr. I got a PA and was examined and told to wear a wrist brace (which I told them I had been wearing one for the last 2 months and 0 relief). The PA told me they will get with me to get me into a Neurologist 2-week max wait. No Xray/imagery of any kind, nothing just bending and twisting of my arms at Cogar's office. It is going on 3 months, and I have not heard anything. Not that it matters because I opted for a second opinion especially since I wasn't even seen by the DR, I drove over 3 hours and waited 2 months in pain for. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!

I visited Dr. Cigar after having emergency surgery at another hospital needless to say the surgery was not done correctly. Dr. Cigar performed corrective surgery and I will have full use of my hand and wrist now. I highly recommend Dr Cogar she is a kind, compassionate, extremely skilled surgeon! Sue Largess
