Dr. Ashley Mekala, DO

1. Find a different surgery group altogether!2. This doctor will spend a total of 3 minutes with you. 3. You'll have to hound the scheduler to get on the surgery schedule. She won't answer the phone and voice mail says not to leave more than one message every 24 hours and she will not call you back.4. The other office staff will not return your phone calls. 5. Only provided limited presurgery information 2 business days before, some things were supposed to happen in advance of this time frame. 6. Surgery time changed 5 times. 7. The doctor did not visit after surgery. I've NEVER had a doctor not come to check on a patient after surgery. 8. I'm having additional symptoms after surgery and talked to the hospital and called his office. The doctor has not called me. His office staff said they would call me right back, but it has been 5 hours. So now I possibly get to incur additional costs at the Emergency Room because the doctor will not follow up, nor his staff.

I had a terrible experience at Keller office. The staff was rude and unhelpful, and the doctor did not show up . I believe before any surgery you have to visit your surgeon. After 3 weeks his office scheduled an appointment for me to visit Dr. Mekala and after 2 hours waiting in his office, his nurse just showed up and said she would visit me on behalf of Dr. Mekala since he is busy with surgery. They charged me as I was visited by a physician not a registered nurse. His nurse tried to be helpful but I didn’t go there to be visited by his nurse.I did online check-in before going there ,but they told me I have to do all the paperwork again without any reason or even apologies.I would not recommend this office to anyone.

Dr. Mekala operated on my son emergently for an inflamed and infected gallbladder with gallstones. We were randomly assigned him by the hospital we sought care at. He couldn't be bothered to take the time to visit with us prior to surgery or even after. We NEVER SAW THIS MAN. Further, he discharged my son the next day without ever putting eyes on him after surgery. He couldn't possess a modicum of decency to inform us our son was alive, would be fine, or otherwise review any details about my son's case while my son was laying in recovery. As a healthcare professional myself this is unacceptable. Every family deserves and is due an update from the surgeon who operated on their loved one. If nothing else, it is common courtesy and basic decency. So, if you value and desire communication, Dr. Mekala is not the physician to seek services from.
