After dealing with the major New York City medical institutions for consults and treatment ( Lenox Hill, NYU, Mt Sinai, Sloan), I fortunately found Dr Azriel Hirschfeld and his staff of nurses and PA’s who sees you as an individual. No more stressing over unreturned phone calls and long waits for treatment. Every patient is special. Phone calls are answered immediately or during no working hours returned promptly. My frustration with the large institutions was removed with personalized care. Dr Azriel Hirschfeld is brilliant and caring. His staff is kind and knowledgeable. He thinks out of the box. He is a keeper.

Dr Hirschfeld's claim that "your problem is now my problem" is not empty rhetoric. He surrounds his patients with caring, empathetic and knowledgeable professional staff who give nutritional advice and other useful tidbits in how to live with cancer, chemo and its side effects. His demeanor oozes hope and encouragement; he wants his patients to live life as best they can instead of just waiting in a holding pattern. And when the "common protocol" isn't enough, he is smart and fearless enough to find gentle solutions from other directions. Whoever has heard that I'm his patient tells me "you're in the best possible hands" and I couldn't agree more!

I had stage 4 pancreatic cancer with many tumors in the liver. I started treatment with Dr. Hirschfeld in September 2014 and I am now in remission.
