I was extremely dissatisfied with his handling of my case. Fortunately I know my own condition and was able to refuse the unnecessary biopsy, brain MRI, etc. that he and his incompetent resident strongly recommended for me. This was inspite of my blood tests being normal! I got the impression that they were trying to make UH as much money as possible with all those expensive tests. It really was a case of mis-diagnosis and he messed up my weekly medication dose. I switched to the Clinic and was able to get all the errors corrected. The effect it had on my physiology though, took me a year to get back to normal. I cant imagine how other patients, who perhaps are unaware of their disease and interventional approaches, could get bilked for their money or get the incorrect treatment.

Dr. Arafah at first seemed great. He did not find the reason for the original problem I went for. His response after a whole lot of blood and urine work for something that he was more concerned with was: He isn't sure, and was not willing to do any more in depth testing. He changed my blood pressure meds, added something else, and now I have worse heart papaltations then I did before. I am very disappointed and feel I've wasted alot of time. Be sure to question meds that cause false results!

Since the resident took the health informant Dr. Arafah did not feel the need to ask questions or get information himself. He insisted on a diagnosis despite lab results that contradict the diagnosis. Upon leaving the exam room we overheard him say, to his residents, "well that was quick". Unfortunately, he is a poor listener and made up his mind prior to even evaluating my daughter.

Dr. Arafah is a brilliant and caring doctor who took great care in talking to me and explaining my condition. He took the time to pull out a model and walk me though the anatomy of the gland and explain what was going on. He is the kind of doctor that tests the person, not the illness, and listened to me very carefully. He's also brutally smart and capable. I can't recommend him too much, and will be a lifelong patient, myself.
