Pain in the muscles of my right arm after a fall
On my 2nd visit I had no idea what could be done and after a quick observation Dr Callahan gave me an injection while saying “We are going to save this nerve!”That is exactly what happened as the muscle pain went away along with other pain going up into my neck that had kept me up at night for years before my fall!

Astonished with his rude behavior
I was recently referred to this practice & got Dr. Callahan. My wrist had been diagnosed as broken and I had the xray with me. If Dr. C looked at the xray, I never saw him glance that way. He then rudely said my wrist was not broken. He invalidated the pain I had been experiencing for the past week, said it was a tendonitis, often seen in the dominant hand. I am left handed & the injured wrist is my right wrist! Oh, he never asked my dominant hand. He simple assumed. Overall, he was rude, dismissive, office-side manner a solid -10. I would definitely shop doctors & NOT go to him. How very disappointing this visit was. I am still reeling from how I was treated.

Never use this doctor
I had went there for wrist pain and during that visit, I received an injection. Came back for the second visit and Dr Callahan explained that I needed to have surgery on that wrist. I told him that I did not want to have surgery and for us to explore Physical therapy or another injection. Well, when I stated that, he got extremely angry and told the nurse to get an injection and stated that was the last time for him helping me. Well I guess Karma kicked in, since the second injection worked and I have not been back, with zero pain in my wrist. Honestly, I would not even send my pet to this guy.

Dismissive & Lack of Care Horrible bedside manners. He came in and asked me very quickly what was the issue. He had me do a couple movements. Told me quickly what it was and handed me a paper with a QR code and said "You can read more about it here." Told me about the injection and other two steps then left. Nurse came back to prep. He came back and oddly was a bit more friendly but quick. The injection covers symptoms but I tried to tell him I actually had a Popping sounds and can feel something clicking in and our that still causes pain through my wrist and thumb. I called back to let them know the swelling did go down but I am having the same issue. The nurse calls back and , as I thought he would, he dismissed my concerns, tells me to wait until my next appointment, and recommended some topical gel. Frustrated I asked them could I see another doctor because he is so rude and dismissive. I am hoping they can transfer me to someone else. Hate he did that. It sucks when you have a concern and someone acts that way. Especially when you have been in pain for over 5 weeks and want a resolution. Does he seem knowledge? Yes! Very much so. Which is why I wish he didn't act that way. But, I have to get with someone who will actually listen, not be dismissive, show some care, and really attend to the issue. This was so disappointing on so many levels. Hoping it can be resolved with another doctor in the clinic. If not; guess I'll be driving all the way to Birmingham for better care. So frustrating.

Horrible bedside manner
Rude, doesn't listen. I was referred there by another doctor and got minimal treatment. When I went back almost a year later for the same injury, I was told my pain wasn't related to the previous injury.

Dr. Callahan in the space of two years performed carpal tunnel surgery on both of my hands. The procedure was a welcome relief to the pain. I remain pain free after five years.

Following my surgery, he scheduled PT but once I started experiencing increased pain and numbness he wrote me off as a whiner, basically saying there was no medical basis for my symptoms. I was subsequently referred to another ortho hand specialist and it was determined that I had developed traction neuritis and that the subcutaneous procedure Dr. Callahan performed should have been sub-muscular. Once the correct procedure was done by another surgeon, I was able to return to work.

Dr Callahan performed a wrist fusion on my husband about 5 years ago. He went back to him at least 2 more times - excessive pain and not able to use his hand even let alone the wrist. After xrays Dr Callahan saw that the screws for the fusion had all broken with the with exception of 1 or 2 out of 6 and said that was to be expected and nothing else could be done. Well, he lived with the pain and discomfort until 2015 - surgery in Miami to redo the damage and tada - perfect now.
