99% salesman. 1% surgeon -- and a bad surgeon, too. Read his writings, published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and you will find out fast what an incredibly Machiavellian, manipulative, calculating, unscrupulous practitioner he is. Start with "What You Can Do Is Not What They Want."

I went to Dr. Zide to improve my chin/lack of projection. He is truly the expert in this field, and has written the book on chin augmentations. His ability to understand the shape of my face and present the best option going forward was nothing short of amazing. He walked me through the details of the procedure, why he was recommending it, and even provided research papers for my reading to help educate me on my chin augmentation procedure. The final outcome of my chin augmentation is amazing and I couldn't be any happier!!! I highly recommend Dr. Zide for anyone exploring a chin augmentation procedure.

He wears a kind of mask. He knows how to play the part of the courteous, caring, highly skilled surgeon just long enough to earn your trust and sell you the surgery. But beware, because once he operates on you and collects his fee he stops all the play-acting and shows his incompetent, callous, morally twisted true self. Dig deep when you do your research. Make sure you read his published writings. It is in his writings that he lets the mask slip.

Dr. Zide is the BEST of the best. He changed my life.

Dr Zide performed an excision, tissue expansion, & removal on my sons bathing trunk nevus. He had told us there was a 95% complication rate at our consultation so that we knew what we were getting into. Sure enough my son was probably Dr Zide’s toughest case in all his years of doing this type of surgery. There were so many times we felt like giving up during the tissue expansion period. He ended up needing a port replacement due to bad bacteria around the port, he also externalized the new port. He was consistent in knowing what to do in every aspect of this case and performed miracles for us. We had one month left of tissue expansion and my sons skin started to rip (at no fault of Zides) and needed emergency surgery for removal. He got to remove almost all of it off even though we weren’t done. I’m sure we gave Zide a headache for 4 months but just know that appreciate you so much. We will be going back next year to finish removal (hopefully without tissue expanders).

It is my pleasure to write this review for Dr. Zide after having an excellent experience with him as my surgeon. He recently performed a revision chin surgery for me (primary procedures done elsewhere) and gave me a beautiful result! I was nervous before surgery but Dr Zide knew what to say to make me feel at ease and he delivered. We have one more procedure to go to know Im in the best hands. Dr. Zide is such a talented maxillofacial and reconstructive plastic surgeon and his skills should be celebrated. He is a very accurate diagnostician, passionate about perfecting his craft, enthusiastic about helping others, and has a fabulous bedside manner. He is everything I was looking for in a Plastic and Maxillofacial surgeon and I highly recommend him to anyone in need.

Dr. Zide walked me through the various options of the flap surgery. I felt comfortable in his professional experience and confidence. The results of the surgery was outstanding. I didn’t look for a plastic surgeon when I he’d my second Mohs surgery.

What he may have been 30 or 40 years ago -- and I seriously doubt that he has ever been much -- he no longer has the same abilities. Find a younger doctor.

The existence of Dr. Barry Zide and those like him proves that you can get away with pretty much anything you want in this world so long as you've got "Dr" before your name and "MD" after it. But don’t take my word for it. Read his published writings.

Dr. Zide,is an incredible Surgeon. Extremely knowledgeable about his profession. He’s very attentive to his patients and has a great sense of humor. I would give him 10 stars if I could. Great sense of style too.

Dr. Barry Zide butchered me and I continue to suffer. He pressured me into having surgery. He became furious when I tried to postpone, and said that if I did he would not reschedule. Negative reviews portray him as a devil. Positive reviews portray him as an angel. I offer the following tiebreaker. It is a quote taken from "I Am An Expert For Anything You Want" written in 2002 by Dr. Zide and published in a medical journal. Decide for yourselves whether it reflects the mind of a devil or an angel: "And what about the patient who wants to see preoperative and postoperative photographs that you do not have? My latest ploy for that is great: “The new HIPAA, the Health Insurance Privacy Act (my translation), which ensures patient confidentiality, does not allow us to show those pictures anymore. I wish I could, though; they were impressive, really.” The methods by which I try to keep a patient from going elsewhere unnecessarily do not go beyond this petty, nebulous presentation of data."

Dr Zide performed the most difficult surgery on me, a chin reduction, with a beautiful result. This is a very difficult procedure and one that 99 percent of surgeons simply cannot do. A chin augmentation is easy, but my surgery required the best in the world. Dr Zide is doubly qualified as a board certified plastic surgeon and a dentist. His knowledge of the mouth, chin and jaw area is unparalleled. I was directed to him while on a patient consultation with one of the most famous plastic surgeons in NYC. He dropped Dr Zide’s name (unknowingly) as the world’s top expert in this area. I can not recommend Dr. Zide highly enough! Cheryl A New York City

Truly rude and dismissive. I had concerns that were not addressed. Beyond horrible bedside manner. Gave me an extra long scar on the side of my face claiming it would mimic the smile line of the other side. It absolutely didn’t do that. I also received a chin implant that hurts to this day. He was unprofessional and started injecting things into my mouth and gums in the waiting room, before I was even under anesthesia. When I shared my concern about receiving a second “brush up” surgery from him he cussed me out on the phone using multiple explicatives. He was yelling and putting a lot of pressure on me to follow through with the second surgery. He said if I pushed back this surgery he would never let me be his patient again and that if I changed my mind he wouldn’t take me back. I have never in my entire life experienced someone so unsympathetic, self-absorbed and unprofessional In the medical field. I regret the first surgery. Absolutely regret it. Do not go to him.

I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Zide for over a year. In that time, I saw him perform MIRACLES. He is an extremely talented and brilliant surgeon. I would personally see him, and highly recommend him for any cosmetic or medically necessary procedure. He is very dedicated to achieving an ideal result for his patients and goes above and beyond to meet these expectations.

I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Zide closely over the last several years. During that time I have seen his work. He is a master surgeon and anatomist. While he can perform head to toe plastic surgery, he excels in the plastic surgery of the face. He has a playful personality but always communicates the bottom line with the patient. I would not hesitate to send a friend or family member to Dr. Zide!

Dr Zide was supervising surgeon for residents program where I obtained what I had hoped would be a face lift! During the initial interview phase everyone goes through to see if your accepted as surgery was far less expensive in the NYU residents program Dr Zide was rude dismissive and actually ignored questions I wanted to ask about the procedure! His abrupt angry demeanor remained at each step of the initial phase and even unto the day of actual surgery! After surgery I learned I’d only been given a partial face lift and while recovering in a hotel room with private nurse I developed a painful hematoma! I was taken to NYU hospital ER after my hematoma was cared for I was left alone all night in a room that resembled a storage space for hospital equipment! I had a catheter put into me and spent a long painful night without any doctors supervision! When I finally met with Dr Zide again he simply told me “I don’t know what went wrong, I can’t do anything about it now” stay away!

My surgery was wonderful! A gifted surgeon!

Dr Zide is kind, caring, and a genius in his field. He corrected a very bad lip repair as well as two other badly done skin grafts. The amazing detail, folowup, and care in dealing with such an intimate area as my lip was very comforting. U trust him completely.

I presented to Dr. Zide with a chin that was a train wreck. The area had been degloved and mentalis muscles cut 4 times, in different procedures to help with sleep apnea. Lips and chin were off-center and grossly ptotic. He stabilized the area with chin anchors, and stitched the sulcus closer to my bottom teeth. Chin pad and lip are centered and much less ptotic. He gave me back my confidence, and I'm so grateful. He's the chin meister. 2/12/19
