Grouchy and mumbles
It is hard to understand this doctor because he does not speak clearly. He does not explain what is going on with my health very well. When I ask questions, he answers in very technical lingo and cannot seem to explain it in common language.

I shed tears of gratitude.
My wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 Terminal Rectal cancer by another specialist. The doctor who did the colonoscopy said that the appricot sized tumor had been there from 5 to 7 years due to Burn Pits in the Middle East during her military deployments. Dr Bassam Mattar jumped through hoops, acted immediately on every instance and he had connections with other specialists with skilled experiences. My wife and I have had years of horrible experiences with all types of medical personnel. There is no no second place next to Dr. Mattar. My wife passed a year and a half ago. We can't thank Dr. Mattar enough. I literally shed tears of gratitude when I see this wonderful man. He was my wife's earthy angel on earth. Thank you.

Dr. Mattar is a very caring doctor. I trust him. He has cared for me since my diagnosis of chronic myleoid leukemia in 2018. His office staff, however, has OFTEN messed up my appointments, information, referrals, etc. He is late about 50% of the time, but I believe that is because he takes the time his patients NEED with him. Sometimes, that's more for me. Sometimes it's less. He also works very well with Dr. Kantarjian, my CML specialist at MD Anderson.

Over 2 Cancer battles I'v come to know Dr. Mattar very well. He saved my life, twice, and I'v recommended him to others who have, unexpectedly, been diagnosed with this disease. He cares, and tries to surround himself with staff who care about the patient. It's been 6 yrs. since the last cancer battle, and, I still see him for re-checks. A more caring , listening Oncologist I feel can't be found.
