In 15 years of seeing psychiatrists, Dr Elswick is the most genuine, respectful and empathetic one I’ve had. Medication management is often more an art than a science, and he acknowledges this. He genuinely cares about how I’m doing and how meds are affecting me.

Literally ghosted me as a patient after 8+ months of working together with no proper explanation or message explaining why. As someone with mild mental health problems I cannot imagine what my experience would be like for someone who heavily relies on their medication and psychiatric care to have to experience what I have experienced.

Friendly, Knowledgeable, Direct, Engaging!
I have been with Dr. Elswick for about half a year and he has been fantastic the entire process. From the initial consultation/onboarding process to our regular check-in/update sessions. Dr. Elswick has always been great at understanding my thoughts/concerns, addressing them in a friendly, collaborative manner, and always communicating his reasoning concisely.

Ben is incredibly empathetic, a great listener, and gave me some great frameworks to work through my past history and current problems. I have found many other psychiatrists very standard and not helpful, but I found Ben's approach very refreshing.

I don't find him culturally competent. He uses a lot of jargon to classify your thinking patterns without adequate explanation, so it was a lot more talking at me, rather than talking with me. I did not feel comfortable discussing race or gender-related topics with him.
