Dr Piperno performed colon surgery on my husband due to diverticulitis. Initially my husband was admitted for what was thought would be an emergency surgery. Fortunately, he was able to treat my husband with antibiotics which enabled us to postpone surgery and instead, schedule it for time convenient for everyone concerned. Almost a month later, he performed that surgery and did a stellar job! He shared the surgery was very difficult but he was able to do it laparoscopically and without the need for a colostomy. His skill of persistence, wisdom and attention to detail in my husband's life made all the difference. I would not hesitate to have surgery through him again and highly recommend him to others considering a surgery with him. Also, Adrian assisted us in the pre-surgery process, answered all of our questions above and beyond her duties. It doesn't get any better than that!! Kandi Stake

I was admitted to Baptist South for acute diverticulitis. Upon discharge I was seen by a GI Doctor and from there had a colonoscopy. Doctor was not able to advance the scope due to a stricture. I then researched Dr. Piperno who is Board Certified in Colo-rectal surgery. He was kind, explained everything regarding surgery. His staff was very pleasant and efficient. The doctor saw me every day in-hospital and was patient with all questions. I would recommend Dr. Piperno without hesitation.

Forty years of hemorrhoid problems. He advised that surgery would fix it. I believe it was true. He made it clear recovery was painful. It was important to not become constipated. He was clear but did not elaborate. I now know that surgery causes swelling and swelling made it impossible to poop. The pain was excruciating! I took what seemed to be an excessive amount of laxatives, colace, miralax and fiber. Insufficient at first, then 3 days of soiling my pants. Misery. Don't do it!

I arrived in the ER Dec. 2014 after a "misdiagnosis" at an urgent care facility in GA. He immediately determined I had a ruptured appendix and perforated bowel and required emergency surgery. His skills were nothing short of a miracle. He truly saved my life!
