Dr. Bernadette Profeta, MD

I’ve seen Dr. Profeta on two different accounts and she has been amazing! Best general surgeon I’ve been to :)

Dr. Bernadette Profeta is not a qualified surgeon because she performed an ileocecectomy on me, removing part of the colon and ileum due to uncomplicated appendicitis. She did not say she was the surgeon but was part of a team that would operate on me. She never discussed other alternatives, the proposed intervention's risks, and complications or asked about my preferences. After the surgery, Dr. Profeta told me that my appendicitis was complicated because I had an inflamed cecum and that, in her opinion, my appendix had dropped into my abdomen. But according to the emergency room doctor, the CT scan with contrast made the same day before the surgery, the pathology report after the surgery, and the opinion of an expert surgeon, my appendix never burst, nor was my cecum inflamed. The ileocecectomy was not the appropriate surgery for my condition, requiring only an appendectomy. That unnecessary surgery left me with days in the hospital, a horrible scar, and many health problems.

Very personable, made me feel comfortable and explained to me what I was doing. Had emergency surgery with her and she was able to get me in quick. Thank you Dr!!!

The check in and check out staff were quick and helpful. Yaritza was very nice. Dr. Profeta was thorough and even drew a diagram for me to help explain the ailment and the procedure. I felt confident upon leaving that Dr. Profeta is knowledgeable and experienced.

They all displayed true compassion and the explanations given regarding the surgery process were clear and in easy-to-understand terms. The results of my mom's surgery were beyond our expectations. She was so attentive to my needs and concerns during my post op visit. I had a lot of questions for her and she was so patient and kindly talked me through everything until I felt confident to continue my recovery on my own. I’m sure she had lots of patients to meet with, and I felt bad for keeping her as long as I did, but she never appeared to be rushing or in a hurry. I am so grateful for her care in this difficult time.
