Dr. Betsy August, MD

Staff is horrendous. Dr. August is mean, extremely rude and makes awkward comments that make you feel uncomfortable. Do not go here!!

She has no business helping women give birth. I wouldn’t trust her with delivering a cockroach. If you don’t want to know what is happening with your body, care, or baby then she is the right person for you. She is extremely rushed and when the nurses raised concerns about my health she brushed them off and never came to assess me until I was in critical condition.

Haven’t forgotten the experience to this day. She delivered my one and only child and unfortunately for me made the experience extremely negative. She was rude and cold during the delivery and after my daughter was born she left immediately. Did not say congratulations, or one positive thing. I never returned to see her again, found another doctor immediately. She should not be in that business

Save yourself the time and go somewhere else, the receptionist is extremely rude. Dr. August is always busy and will rush your appointment.

Rude, dismissive, let me labor (for hours) even though when she broke my water there was meconium present (which the baby could have aspirated). Highly unprofessional, and frankly downright dangerous.

Dr. August loves her patients. I completely agree with the other positive reviews here that she is just direct and to the point. I don’t think you could imagine finding a doctor that honestly cares more than she does.

The staff at the office is helpful and kind. Dr. August is not. Told me one thing at an initial appointment, and then at the followup contradicted her own statements and treatment plan from before--as if she didn't even take time to review my case. Dismissive of my concerns and questions I raised. Short in tone and rushing through appointments--no matter how serious the topic. After getting separate opinions because of the bad experiences with her, other gynecologists easily found the problem--one that could be very serious had they not put in the effort to figure it out. Glad I trusted my gut and left Dr. August for better doctors.

I just love her !! I had my two kids delivered by her . She is awesome! Ppl don’t understand that she is very straight to the point . She will tell you exactly what you need to hear. It doesn’t mean shes cold and dont care for her patients. And the staff is another thing . I love all of them . Front desk has been super helpful every time i need an appt they get me in as soon as possible. Rachel so sweet always paying attention to every detail. I definitely keep going to this office.

Dr. August is simply the best. She helped my wife so well to accomplish her high risk pregnancy journey. She had accurate judgments on her health conditions and provided timely suggestion for a surgery conducted in the 2rd trimester. Our baby is almost 2 now, healthy and funny. We can not appreciate her enough. Thanks, Dr.

Dr August has delivered 2 of my babies and I fully trust her skill as a doctor. She is the person I would want to have if anything went wrong. She can be very direct, which I appreciate. Others may interpret this as being cold, but personally I prefer it.

I love Betsy. She is straight to the point with no BS. She doesn’t sugarcoat anything, but she cares very much about her patients. I’ve been with her for 23 years, and she has saved my life more than once. I’ve read a lot of reviews saying she is cold, or she doesn’t care about her patients; I honestly believe the people who wrote those reviews are the type who need to be coddled. If you’re pregnant and there is nothing wrong During your checkup, then there is no issue and nothing for her to go over with you. If there is a problem, she will present you with facts and options. I don’t want an emotional doctor, I want a doctor who knows what they’re doing, and she does.

Do not use this doctor if you are looking for the best care for you and your unborn child. This woman has no bedside manner and rushes out of appointments as quickly as possible. She gives very little explanation and uses sarcasm as an excuse to be curt and insensitive. Also be aware if you are anything but a white skinny female, she makes comments that are borderline discriminative and focuses more on your weight and race than actually giving medical information about your unborn child or test results. I wish I had checked reviews instead of trusting a referral from one of her colleagues. At the end of the day this is a business and there’s little to no customer service with this doctor.

My female relative visited Betsy August for birth control administration. During the process, she was very insensitive and snappy when she complained of pain. She came out of the appointment crying from the pain she endured. When she went to another practice, the process was very fast and didn’t cause any pain. Just because someone has been in practice for a while, doesn’t mean that they are exempt from the ethics of good bedside manner. DO NOT VISIT Dr. Betsy August unless you want to receive a cold attitude, painful treatment and non receptiveness.

I had such a great pregnancy with the help of Dr. August. I did have to have a c-section, and she did a great job keeping us informed and I barely have a mark from the stitches. Definitely see Dr. August again for baby #2

She is so rude, uncaring, cold- doesn’t want to work with you during procedures to help you feel comfortable. She is just one of those doc’s that thinks she’s better than everyone else! Horrible bedside manner and very ingenuine. She had rave reviews at a clinic I went to- but I have no clue what they were talking about because the doctor I encountered was truly mean. I did Not feel safe in her hands.

Dr. August is absolutely wonderful! Sadly, I cannot say the same for everyone in the office. The receptionist is extremely rude & wildly disrespectful. A friend was calling to schedule an appointment & because she has an accent, the receptionist made rude, stereotypical, ignorant assumptions that she couldn't speak English. My friend is well-educated & fluent in English. Hearing the way she spoke to her was absolutely horrifying. She should be ashamed for the way she handled the situation.

I have been a patient of Dr. August for over 20 years . She is a wonderful , caring , compassionate doctor, who also calls you back in a very timely manner. I would recommend her to anyone who is seeking high quality professional care. Also , I find the staff to be very helpful, attentive , and very friendly.

I've been going to Dr August for the past 10 years. She has delivered 2 of my babies & took care of me when I had a d.n.c. & another miscarriage. She sent me to mass general in danvers for testing. I am currently 3 weeks pregnant now. She is the only dr i trust. When her & her staff moved to another office I went with them. The staff & nurses are very caring & make you feel very comfortable. I have recommended family & friends to her & they are happy to.

Do not go to this doctor is you are overweight or considered obese. No class whatsoever. Spending 10 minutes in a room with a patient and fat shaming them is a disgrace. Also telling them that normal ultrasounds are harder and that they will be mostly vaginal is a flat out lie. I also did not receive any information my first visit about anything other than I need to diet and exercise.
