Dr. Betty Tsai, MD

Prepared for weeks for my surgery. Took time off work, flew out family to assist with recovery. Surgery was canceled last minute with zero plan to reschedule. “A scheduler will contact you”

Dr. Tsai may be competent at everyday ENT issues, however, I was disappointed with her care for my facial nerve schwannoma. My MRI revealed a facial nerve tumor with concerns for malignancy. She quickly scheduled an outdated and dangerous biopsy surgery. The chance of damaging my facial nerve with her proposed method was extremely high and she said there was no chance of improvement over my current condition. I did my own research and had an unreimbursed 2nd opinion from UCSD. I found that the procedure she recommended was considered outdated as far back as 2011 and 'the general rule' was not to biopsy the area where she intended due to risk of paralysis. She obviously has not kept up with medical advances regarding my condition and did not investigate further when faced with my diagnosis. Hopefully she will do a better job staying current for future patients. I had a much better method of surgery by another surgeon and my condition is improving every day. Self advocate!

I was referred within the Kaiser system to Dr. Tsai due to her specialty in ear issues, as I had ruptured my eardrum. From my first time receiving a consultation through to the surgical repair of my eardrum (Tympanoplasty) more than 9 months later, Dr. Tsai exceeded my expectations each and every time that I met with her! She was patient, attentive, informative, thorough, and kind. She clearly demonstrated her expertise in the ENT space during my continuum of care. Thank you, Dr. Tsai!

My daughter has been with a couple surgeons at Kaiser before doctor Tsai and doctor Tsia has definitely been by far the best. She is extremely thorough in everything she explains. Most doctors when you explain symptoms they'll make a guess. What most doctors don't seem to understand that if you're there telling them something is off it's probably because it is. If you wanted a guess you could've Googled it. If you're at the doctor's it's because something is wrong and you need help. Doctor Tsai is not like your usual doctor, if she can't give you a for sure answer she will look for it, whether it's close monitoring, testing, x-rays, she will dig until she makes sure your OK and have your answers. She performed surgery on my daughter and her recovery has beat medical odds and that is because of doctor Tsai being such an amazing surgeon. My daughter couldn't be in better hands. I love doctor Tsai!!!
