I had to place my father at Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna, GA, and unfortunately, he was under the care of Dr. Patel. My dad is 83 and suddenly started exhibiting manic behavior in December 2015. Dr. Patel diagnosed him as bipolar (manic/depressive), which is a lifelong battle, not a sudden onset. When questioned, Dr. Patel would not be dissuaded in his diagnosis, even when faced with differing opinions from other doctors. Upon discharge, there was no family meeting, and no post discharge foll
