He was a calming force in a scary time. I went to PBMC and needed emergency surgery. I was totally at ease with his explanation of the procedure and what he was going to do. Results and aftercare could not have been better.

He Saved My Life
I was rushed to Peconic Bay Medical with acute perforated diverticulitis. I had no idea I even had diverticulitis and did not know what to expect. Dr. Makartchuk took lots of time to explain my situation to me and my wife, and tried other interventions before surgery to improve my situation. When emergency surgery became the only option, he rushed me in and fixed me up! He was always compassionate and funny, and all follow ups were handled with extreme care. I would recommend him to anyone who needs to undergo abdominal surgery. He saved my life!

Dr Makartchuk is an awesome surgeon. My husband had hernia surgery with him and he was very caring, funny and explained everything throughly! My husband ended up having another surgery weeks later due to a bowel obstruction. Dr Makartchuk was very conservative and tried everything to avoid surgery. The surgery did happen and Dr Markartchuk again was wonderful! We would highly recommend him!

I was admitted to Brookhaven Hospital in March 2015 with an acute diverticulitis attack. Never had this before and was very scary. Dr. Makartchuk took excellent care of me! I had a small perforation in my intestines and he took care of it without me having surgery. His bedside manner was excellent and I felt comfortable and confident with the way he handled me. I highly recommend him!

He is such a friendly and professional surgeon! He removed my cyst that day in his office when he saw I was in so much pain. He did such a great job and made me comfortable and calm throughout the whole process. He listened to all my questions and concerns and even joked around with me to make me laugh and at ease. I definitely recommend him!
