Neurosurgery
I had surgery with this doctor. The appointment first went great. He wasn’t very nice after surgery, I had a negative effect from anesthesia that I don’t even remember whatever he was upset with me about, but his team said everything is fine, so I was really confused and felt ambushed. After surgery I have been ghosted, his NP hasn’t been sure how to answer my questions (she’s trying to be helpful and she has been very nice!). I’ve had to go to the ED multiple times, still have not heard from my surgeon and he didn’t show for my post op appointment. I was told he would pop in the messaging system, he was added to it, and that he would call me, but still never has. My local hospital wanted to transfer me to his hospital and the on call said no, my hospital didn’t know why… so my local hospital didn’t know what to do with me. The no-accountability factor has me feeling unsettled, and I don’t feel comfortable with my decision. I honestly wish I had chosen someone else.

He answered all my questions in a way I could understand. Very pleasant to talk to and to be around. He is not like a lot of doctors I’ve been around who treat you like you are beneath them.

When you have a child you never imagine that within the first 3 days of being born they will need a life saving procedure, but that is where my husband and I found ourselves. Long story short Dr Bohnstedt saved our daughter's life that day and continues to do so. He is an expert in his field and is current on the latest research. He explains conditions and the procedures he does well. I could go on and on but bottom line is: this doctor works hard to relate to families and save lives.

This doctor made a mistake on my surgery. Instead of working with me and other specialists to try and figure out why I had serious post-op issues, he belittled me and said things like, "Let me know when you're able to talk like a big girl." (I was crying)I went to ER in an effort to have my MRI looked at one more time. This man was on call, and AGAIN, told me it was in my head. Another doctor took a look and they IMMEDIATELY noticed the horrific truth that this man had MESSED up and he knew it.

The most horrible bedside manner ever. I actually had several of his colleagues say, Ohh...sorry. when I started a conversation with a few of the staff downstairs. And at clinic they said Ohhh, yea we know about him. Giving me a very tired and sarcastic look. So I know this isn't just a one time thing. He is rough and rolled his eyes on several occasions. Had no regard for my privacy, lifting my hospital gown in a room full of people. Left the room without even a word , like I didn't matter.
