Today my visit to Dr. Shwak did not take place. I sat in the office for an hour. During this time, the assistant measured my blood pressure and weighed me, after which he told me to wait for the doctor and left. The doctor was sitting in the office opposite. He didn't examine the patient, he just sat. I have no words. I understand that the doctor may have a break, but why make an appointment during this time?

I got my life back
I have been with Dr. Schwack office since 04/2018 for the Gastric Sleeve. I was 432lbs and had severe arthritis in both knees due to the weight. I had to get Bariatric Surgery first before knee replacement surgery. Let's fast forward five years later; I'm at 237lbs and got my knees replaced. I was able to keep the weight off and able to regain custody of my life. I will forever thank Dr. Schwack for the rest of my life. You have no idea he gave me back my life, and I am forever grateful. Thank you, Dr. Schwack.

Horrible, Find a Different Doctor
This had to be one of the worst physician visits I've had. The office staff was unprofessional, I did not receive a thorough physical as the video promised, the doctor did not examine me, but asked my political views...what? Had an attitude about my insurance company requirements and recommended a colleague that charged over $250 for a required eval...out of pocket. Really? Oh did I say how many hours he was late? No apology. Charged my insurance company nearly $1000 for this mess of a visit that I'm still processing what happened. So much to unpack. I love NYU, many other NYU physicians. But not this one.

Dr Schwack is the one of the best in the field having joined practice of Dr Fielding and Dr Ren. He did my lap band surgery 10 years ago. I've loss over 100lbs. I've relocated to Washington, DC but still schedule any readjustments with his office. The staff, nurses and Dr Schwack are true professionals.

Dr. Schwack is competent but completely unreliable. I switched off his service after my most recent appointment with him. At that appt, I waited for over an hour during which he was not even in the office yet. Until then, his staff & supervisors couldnt reach him. When they finally got hold of him, 2 hours after his first scheduled appointment, he claimed to be stuck in traffic and would be in 45 minutes later (nearly 3 hours late to his 1st appointment.) I had the opportunity to speak to the other patients waiting & every person there (including myself) could tell at least 1story of him being over an hour late to his office. Many had more than one. This is not a case of a doctor who runs late on his appointments. This is a doctor who can’t be bothered to show up to work on time. Let’s be real. If traffic was that bad he would have known before he was 2 hours late. Dr. Schwack has no respect for his patients’ time and an appointment with him does not guarantee a visit. Look elsewhere

Dr Schwack repaired my inguinal hernia the day after New Years 2020 and I am totally impressed with how well he and the staff at NYU Langone handled everything from start to finish. Diagnosis, scheduling, pre-op, op and post-op follow ups were all completely effortless and professional. I could not be happier with his perforated in the OR and his results in total. I can recommend Dr Schwack wholeheartedly!

I chose Dr. Schwack to do my lap band after I saw him at the initial required seminar. He seemed uber knowledgeable, kind, and personable. Happy to say it was the best decision of my life! After years of struggling with obesity & the joy that comes along with the territory, I'm pleased to say the pounds are coming off thanks to this amazing surgeon who true to his word encourages me, guides me & patiently instructs me what to do. Always professional with stellar bedside manners, he's the best!
