Dr. Brian Costell, MD

I have migraine and genetic neuropathy. They have destroyed my life. Otherwise, I’m in perfect health. I switched to Dr Costell from a neurologist I had gone to for 20 years. He wasn’t helping me at all. When I met Dr Costell a few months ago he asked a lot of questions but also gave me thoughtful answers. He thought outside the box to help me and I appreciated that. This visit was no different. We discussed different things that were bothering me and he came up with answers. It’s really not the point whether everything he said will help. The point is he listened, cared and gave thoughtful feedback. I highly recommend him.

Dr Costell has a very warm way about him. He puts you at ease even when discussing serious illness. He is extremely knowledgeable and engages the patient in the decision process when discussing alternatives for treatment. I highly recommend him

I have Multiple Sclerosis for 34 years. I have been under Dr. Costell’s care for 15 years. He has brought me through many difficult exacerbations and I will continue to be his patient until he retires! Wouldn’t want any other Neurologist to treat my MS, symptoms, etc. I suffer from Migraine headaches and he treats those as well. I adore this man. He is the best!

I met with Dr Costell for the first time and explained my issues with him. I felt extremely comfortable talking with him. He suggested a plan of action to determine what my medical issues were and gave me his thoughts on a game plan to treat my conditions. I would highly recommend him. he was very caring and took the time to listen to me and explained everything to me.

I get shots for cervical Dystonia and this was my second time getting the shots from Dr. Costell. He is spot on and these are the best treatments I have had...I've been receiving shots for 10 years and went to several neurologists before I found Dr. Costell. I no longer have the quivering in my neck and the shots are easy and virtually painless. Dr. Costell takes the time to listen to what you have to say. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Costell.

I moved to Florida from the Northeast and searched for two years for a neurologist that I felt was dedicated to finding different solutions to my difficult medical problem. Until I found Dr. Costell, I was flying back and fourth to my N.J. neurologist. I was so happy when I found Dr. Costell. He was able to continue my past treatment and relieve my pain. I am highly satisfied with his wonderful care.

We made an appointment with Dr. Costell for my mom. When we got there and waited, we only saw his PA, Carol. We never saw the doctor. My mom was diagnosed with memory issues after doing poorly on the memory test. She did just have surgery a few months prior but Carol didn't listen to anything we were telling her. We needed to make a follow up visit so we very specifically made it with DR. COSTELL! Once again, in walks Carol. When we asked where is the doctor, she angrily told us they are a team and work together. I said that we'd like to meet the rest of the team, so our next appointment, we ONLY want the doctor. Third appointment, in walks Carol. My mom was doing a lot better with her memory and we asked for another memory test. At first, she refused and when I kept asking, she agreed, in a frustrated manner, telling us the tests don't get better. Wrong..my mom got a perfect score! We found another neurologist, and the DOCTOR actually saw my mom. Carol is the one with memory issues!

Awful but, in all fairness, we never got to see Dr. Costell. We requested after our first disappointing visit with Carol (not sure why Dr. Costell didn't come in) that we wanted to please see Dr. Costell next visit. Carol was the one we saw on the second visit even though we deliberately made the appointment with Dr. Costell. This time we told her directly when she was making a third appointment that we only wanted to see Dr. Costell. She got insulted and told us they are a team. We said we never met him and would like to meet the rest of the team, the doctor on the team. She said fine. Much to our disgust, in she walked on our third visit. I had to practically beg her to give my mom another MMSE since my mom's memory was coming back. I even asked if her memory issues could be the result of anesthesia. She told us that she won't do better but fine, she'll give her the test. My mom went from to 13 to an almost perfect score. We will not return and have no confidence in this office.

Dr Costell hands down best Physician. Yes, he was busy b/c so many waiting to be helped. I didn’t feel rushed & found out I have a rare disease. One month later with treatment I feelGreat! Thank you so much x

Was very helpful in diagnosing my neuralgia and putting me on the correct medication. After 17 years of suffering I finally found the issue and what I can do about it.

Dr. has a practiced speech he gives to a lot of patients stating they are the 10% of the population that get random seizures. After researching this statement I’ve found out it is only 1% and he was not even being truthful. I went to see him for diagnosis and he could not make a decision on what caused my seizure. Even though it was obvious since I had synthetic opioids in my blood tests at the time. He makes jokes that (MD) medical doctor stands for make decisions. Which he could not make decisions about anything whether I need to stay on my medication how long I should stay on my medication for he left all these decisions up to me. His staff was extremely rude especially Michelle was very unhelpful, unprofessional and argumentative.

NOSFL is by far one of the best doctors offices I’ve experienced. After my first appointment I have been going ever since instead of my primary. The neurologist I was being treated by retired from the practice so I was transferred to Dr. Costell’s patient list. Dr. Costell was very nice, helpful, and took his time to fully discuss and review my file, so far I’m very happy with him. The office is in high demand and certain times of day/year there are tons of people being seen, afternoons and summer tend to be quieter - same with calling the office - very busy am/long hold time, more relaxed pm/immediate answer. If you need tests done in the office that take hours then it will likely take weeks/months to book a time slot so large, same if you’d need to reschedule. Always have your insurance company confirm coverage in writing and take the paperwork and contact numbers with you to a first appointment. I adore the front desk ladies, nurses, & Dr. Jacobs.

Waited almost 3.5 months for an appt with Dr Costell. Office wait was almost 1.5 hours to see him in his office. No apology for making me wait as my patience was running thin. Please do sonething with the scheduling dept to do better. Also, if calling their office, plan on a 20 minute hold time! Just awful.

Dr. Costell and Dr. Nangel are excellent neurologists. I am very satisfied. They listen and make you feel comfortable in such kind ways. All the staff is pleasant and very professional. I highly recommend First Choice Neurologist to anyone who is looking for doctors who care.

He was great. I have never had a doctor spend so much time with me and listen to everything I had to say and not just type away on his computer. We are still in the process. .I would highly recommend him. My only problem was that my first visit was with his PA and I did not see him at all.

Scheduling was quick and easy. Very professional and friendly staff. The wait was moderate, not too long. Dr Costello was such a great listener and helped set up my procedure which was done quick and painless. They have an auto-call to let me know an rx was called in. Best medical experience in 4 years in Florida.

I was tremendously impressed with Dr. Costell. He was knowledgeable, smart, sensitive, comprehensive, patient, and easy to talk to. Thanks to him, I believe my siblings and I are close to finally understanding (and treating) our mother's complex neurological issues. Dr. Costell has my highest recommendation.
