Bunion and hammertoe correction
1. Visit went well and I booked a surgery appointment. Surgery went good until I found out I had metal put in my foot for the bunion correction.Dr. Dix did NOT mentioned that during my visits . This was not my 1. Bunion surgery. The big toe stuck out and I couldn’t wear all my shoes anymore. The metal straightened out my toe so much that I can’t stride my foot while walking. Besides that problem he messed up my second toe because he pulled the pin out to early. That toe is bent on the tip now. Will never go back to Dr. Dix.

aloof doc, no relief, cost me $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
6months prior to appt, seeking relief from mind numbing pain on ball of foot. Primary dr said to never self doctor on foot, to many vital nerve endings. ,, sent to dix. I was so very hopeful for relief. Day arrived for podiatrist appointment, nurses did intake, xrays, back in room, dix came in, said i have Acquired Cavus Deformity, high arches. dix then took scalpel , shaved off #1 very very thin top layer of deep rooted callus, $159. . Said i needed orthotic inserts, sent me right from there down the road for custom inserts. insurance called, yup, covered. I was excited for pending relief. 2wks later, inserts picked up. went from bad to worst. this callus is like taping a pea rock to ball of foot then walk 10hrs daily on concrete. could not use these $187.50 per inserts, due to adding pain, due to the placement of the callus. From Nov 2021 till Oct 7th, 2022 , i have battled the out of pocket expenses, that insurance would not cover due to dix's coding. no relief. cost me $$$

He logged untrue information in my chart about things that he said I said, and things he said. He said patient indicated he's exhausted all options and indicated I was ready for some invasive treatment. I wasn't aware that buying a pair of insoles from Fit My Feet means I've exhausted every option. He said we talked extensively. I decided to wait and see and so far it's working well. I'm sure he's a good surgeon though and that's what pays Avera's bills. I'll go somewhere else when I need a second opinion.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Dix for toe pain in both feet based upon his reviews. During the first visit, he determined that we should try an injection for the issue even though I only had one of the three symptoms suggesting this treatment (pain, but no numbness and tingling). During the next visit to see if the treatment worked, Dr. Dix asked about my numbness and tingling, which I told him I never had, but the pain had not changed. He then had me do an EMG to see if there was a nerve issue, even though I had one of the three symptoms. During the follow-up, he again asked about my numbness and tingling, which I again informed him I have never had. He told me the results were completely negative, and that he's referring me to neurology since I present with neurological symptoms of numbness, tingling, and pain, where I again corrected him. Today, the neurologist thought I was there for numbness and tingling...so frustrating. It turns out there is no neurological issue.

Dr. Dix always explained everything so I understood it before leaving the clinic. Dr. Dix and Crystal were always very kind. Crystal is the best nurse ever (nurse of the year)Always helpful with everything never had to wait in waiting room more than 5 minutes. Very efficient. Very clean rooms never evidence someone was there before I came in. But, like I said before Crystal was the BEST! Always very caring and gave great care when I came in. Thank you so much. Awesome teamwork!
