Worst bedside manner
As an orthopedic surgeon who failed to perform an exam, refused the X-ray and MRI’s from Stamford. First doctor that did no physical exam.apt was 45 minutes late starting even though they have a draconian policy to cancel on you if 15 minutes late.

Orthopedic Gold Standard
Dr. Kavanagh has replaced both of my knees -- one ten years ago, the other this past month. I am an active 82 year-old and, because of my past experience with the ONS system in general, and Dr. Kavanagh specifically, I never considered having this recent procedure with anyone else. His record speaks for itself -- he and his team represent, in my opinion, the 'gold standard' for this type of work.

Dr. Kavanagh is the absolute best!
Dr. Kavanagh has performed hip replacements on both legs, about 10 years ago. The procedures were around 2 years apart. I am 78 and love to play golf, no problem. I recently took my wife to see him. She will be needing a hip replacement soon. She likes him and knows the success I have had with him. I have recommended him to several friends over the years. He is simply the best !!!!!!!

The best and amazing surgeon
I encountered Dr. Brian Kavanagh through a highly regarded recommendation from a friend when I was grappling with a troublesome hip issue. I underwent hip replacement surgeries under his care, the first in January and the subsequent one in July of 2018.Dr. Kavanagh's surgical skills were nothing less than outstanding, as evidenced by the seamless and successful hip replacements. During my hospital stay post-surgery, he made it a point to personally visit me daily to assess my condition. This level of attentiveness and care deeply reassured me during a crucial phase of my recovery.Dr. Kavanagh is not just proficient in his field but also an incredibly personable and respectful individual. He has a unique ability to connect with his patients on a personal level, fostering an environment of trust and comfort. Dr. Kavanagh deserves the highest praise for his contributions to the field of medicine, patient care and his warm and respectful demeanor.

Hubris, arrogance and shoddy hip replacement
I had a full hip replacement in Sept of 2019. I was 48 years old at that time. He left me with an extraordinarily ugly and large scar. (My dog had hip surgery with nicer staples.) The orthopedic rehab I went to were surprised by my height discrepancy and subsequent uneven gait disability. Dr. Kavanaugh became confrontational and defensive when I asked him about it. He lobbed his hands on my hips and declared them perfectly even. His demeanor and abilities were terrible. I would not recommend him.

Dr. Kavanagh gave me a total right knee replacement in August 2020 at Greenwich hospital. Before the operation, I could barely ski, limited racquet sports and golf, even poor sleep due to the pain in my knee. I now walk for miles and play all my sports with absolutely no pain and will be skiing again this winter. I would highly recommend Dr. Kavanagh and his team. They are extremely qualified and thorough and very helpful with follow up advice. Office visits were prompt with little waiting time.

The office staff was great, and the wait time as not bad at all. However I found Dr. Kavanagh to be unfriendly and distracted during my appointment. He may have just been having an off day, but he seemed quite uninterested and rushed. Very disappointed, as he came highly recommended. This was my first and last visit.

Two years ago, I tore my meniscus. I went to HSS in Stamford. Orthoscopic surgery was recommended. I was told at age 58 that I was too young for knee replacement and that orthoscopic surgery would buy me time. This did not turn out to be the case. I was in more pain as a result. In researching my options, I was looking for the least invasive procedure with the quickest recovery time. To my great delight, I learned that Dr. Kavanagh had a great deal of experience in minimally invasive quad sparing knee replacement surgery. I had visited with several surgeons in the area. However, Dr. Kavanagh had the most experience of all the surgeons I consulted with. In addition, his reputation was impeccable. Many people I know had hip and/or knee replacement surgery and every last one advised me to work with him. I am so glad I did. I was walking without a cane within two weeks, driving by four weeks. And now at six weeks, returning to work. I highly recommend Dr. Kavanagh!

I am 85 years old and have had 2 total knee replacements, one in August 2006 and one in July 2011. I am still playing tennis actively and when on the court I am not even aware of my knees. I have no pain or discomfit either playing tennis or walking stairs. My only regret is that I did have Dr. Kavanagh fix my knees 10 years sooner. My wife had a hip replaced and she is also fine. If you need either a knee or hip replaced, I heartily recommend Dr. Kavanagh.

Dr. Kavanagh is an amazing doctor and a great example of really caring about his patients. I had a hip replaced in February 2019 and a knee replaced in June 2019. With Dr. Kavanagh's one of a kind surgical skill and his after surgery care I am healed. My right leg is like new. Thank you Dr. K!

I attribute my remarkably quick, almost painless recovery from total hip replacement to Dr. Kavanaugh's expertise. Every office visit was efficient. Dr. Kavanaugh listened to all of my numerous concerns and addressed each of them, patiently and concisely. He was quite assuring and honest in terms of his preferences for how he approaches certain aspects of the procedure. I asked if I might speak to one of his patients who was a tennis player and had returned to tennis, as is my goal. He complied and I received a call from a patient who had had three surgeries with Dr. Kavanaugh and gave him glowing reviews. Post surgery, he visited me within hours. An added bonus: my wife, who is in the skin care business, says the scar from my surgery is so minimal and healing so well that she'd have Dr. Kavanaugh work on her face if she ever needed it, lol!

Dr. Kavanagh did a total right knee replacement for me in April. Prior to my surgery, I was given a very comprehensive packet of information and attended a class outlining what the procedure and aftercare would be. A bending machine was sent to my home, set up, and I was taught how to use it. My surgery went very well, and I received excellent care in Greenwich hospital along with several sessions of physical therapy. I also received at home PT and then outpatient PT as well. I was driving within three and a half weeks. My follow-up visits went very well. I highly recommend Dr.Kavanagh.
