I. Incorrect DiagnosisThe diagnosis was Erythrasma. It was later discovered that my itch was simply caused by topical Adapalene usage. A few months after the appointment I experimented with stopping topical Adapalene and my condition went away. I told Dr. Brain S. Kim that I was on Adapalene and it was in my medical history report – yet it was not suspect to him. He instead suggested more side-effect heavy drugs. Imagine if I had gone through with those more side-effect heavy drugs my whole life attempting to treat this condition, when I could have simply been cured stoping topical Adapalene.II. UnpreparedDr. Brian Kim appeared to not have read the report sent him before my appointment. This resulted in me having to vocally cram a lot of basic information into Dr. Brian Kim's brain during the a single appointment. A seemingly on-the-fly diagnosis had to be made.III. No FollowupDr. Brian Kim cut off all communication shortly after the appointment – after about two emails.

Would he have treated a man this way?
Saw other specialists, including at Mt Sinai, before him. I’m guessing he spent the initial part of the appointment reading their notes. PAs did the initial new patient intake. When he came in, I explained what the issue was & what had already been eliminated as a cause. He IMMEDIATELY told me that this was a consult, & that a prior specialist would continue to treat me - news to them. He took no history, asked no questions, then said he had to leave, after maybe 15 minutes. I had to assert myself to get an important question answered.Had he done a detailed history, he would have figured it out, as I ultimately did shortly after seeing him. Horrifying that none of prior specialists did a history either.Tied for the worst medical appointment I’ve had - and I’ve had many.I cannot imagine that he would’ve treated a male patient this way.
