Dismissive at Best
I had the misfortune of being referred to Dr. Mayol by my primary care physician following a car accident. My experience with him was exceedingly disappointing. He spent a mere three minutes with me, during which he was dismissive of my concerns and failed to address my needs adequately. This lack of professionalism is unacceptable, and I would not recommend Dr. Mayol to anyone seeking quality care. In contrast, I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Henry, who demonstrated the attentiveness and expertise that every patient deserves.

Patient bedside manner said it all
He was very put off when I told him I needed to have an MRI at another facility due to my insurance. He did an X-ray even though I had one 10 days prior within the same IUNorth system. I felt like he was all about bringing in money and not focused on correcting the pain. At the end of the appointment he said he didn't see anything wrong with my knee not even arthritis. My gut sent me for a second opinion....I'm glad I followed my gut.

Wanted to give a zero star but that isn't an option. TERRIBLE! Within 2 minutes he said that I was "over-thinking things." I thought he was just being direct. I started to explain where my pain was and how it felt and he interrupted and said "that is so dramatic," HOW DARE HE. Who is he to minimalize my pain? Who is he to talk to me like that. I immediately walked out of my appointment in tears. He just stood there with his jaw dropped with no understanding on why that would be hurtful to say to someone with 14 Years of chronic pain. I only wanted help, not cruel judgement. Will not be returning to that office. I have seem dozens of doctors over the years and never had an experience like this. Nursing staff was kind.

Following visit to ER, I was instructed to follow up. Appointment center found Dr Mayol as person that could treat my cyst. Doctor was not interested in treating me. Said that ER made the follow up instruction a a way to get ride of me. Didn’t want to answer questions as he appeared to be busy. Maybe spent 5 minutes with me. ( I was to only person in the waiting room. (Busy?) would not recommend Dr Mayol to anyone!

Dr. was very professional but personable. My MRI showed another tear in my meniscus however, also osteoarthritis and inflammation. Rather than immediately have meniscus repair he recommended a Cortizone injection to be followed by a series of three other injections. However, this did not address the issue as we had hoped and I will be seeing another physician in the office regarding a repair of the meniscus.

I selected IU health Saxony due to their reputation. I am a 58 year-old very active person which hurt my knee while running. I had already several knee surgeries. After running, I felt a swelling and painful sensation in my knee followed by clicking and popping sounds and sporadical pinching in the medial joint which after three previous meniscus tears I am very familiar with. Knowing my condition I wanted a reputable medical practice to attend my injury. Dr. Mayol was very courteous. He prescribed me anti-inflammatory medication and told me to set another appointment if the pain continue. I ask him what would be the next step he told me that it will be hydrocortisone injection. This is the same treatment a patient with a sedentary lifestyle who's suffering from knee pain the first time. I cannot recommend a doctor or practice that will not tailor treatment based on the patient history and physical condition.

I though Dr. Mayol was very nice and took time to listen to issues with my shoulder. He explained a few problems that could be happening. I was sent for MRI and he called me the next day to explain what the MRI indicated. After the conversation he transferred the call to the receptionist so I could make a follow up appointment. Very efficient.
