Fantastic Communication, Listening & Explaining
Dr. Atkinson practices orthopedics in a large group of orthopedists. The check-in procedure was smooth. They got me right into x-ray. The x-ray machine seems to be a very modern versatile model. The technician was very professional and efficient. I am on Medicare and I have taken my mother to a lot of doctors. So I have seen my share of doctors. Dr. Atkinson listens as well or better than any Doctor I have been around! He found out that I am a retired air traffic controller and he worked aviation terminology into his explanation of my treatment options. Dr. Atkinson not only listened to what I said, he watched my facial expressions. When he saw that I wanted to say something, he stopped and asked what I wanted to say. Dr. Atkinson gave succinct, thorough and informative answers to my questions. No boring lectures here. The doc does not currently have a physician assistant. You see the real doctor. I feel comfortable recommending Dr. Atkinson to anyone.

I really loved Dr. Atkinson; great personality, thorough, thoughtful, listens and stays as long as he needs to in order for you to understand everything that needs to be done. I didn't want surgery on my wrist, and he tried everything he could to avoid having to do it; however, it did need to be done and he did a great job. I would 100% recommend him to others.

I visited Dr. Atkinson April 23, 2020 and had a great first experience. Dr. Atkinson was very nice, very respectful and very attentive to my problem. He was very detailed when he was explaining the problem I was having with my hand as well as very informative on the procedure he would be doing. My wait time was only five minutes before I was called in so that was also an awesome experience. Overall I had the perfect visit . I would recommend Dr. Atkinson to all my family and friends and to anyone looking for an Orthopedic specialist.

Dr. Atkinson performed a joint replacement on my thumb. He impressed me with his knowledge and experience with my issue and was honest with the potential outcomes. The surgery and healing have gone very well. I am most pleased with the care that I received from him and all the supportive staff. He is very professional and he cares. I have recommended him to all my friends and plan to return to him to have my other thumb replaced in the future.

Dr. Atkinson is kind, attentive, funny, and a master of his craft. There is no better hand surgeon in DFW. He explains everything and even draws pictures to help his patients understand. I’m a chiropractor and he welcomed my medical opinions when dealing with my own hand issues. I wouldn’t want anyone else operating on me. I am grateful for his nurse, Arika as well. She is quick to respond and extremely intelligent and funny. Definitely a 5 star doc. If you need a hand specialist this is the doctor to see.

Prompt appointment, minimal waiting in lobby, excellent explanations and willingness to draw pictures for a visual learner, advised therapy instead of surgery and said no need to return if doing better. And he’s pleasant and funny, can’t be beat!

Came to this Dr looking for answers after fiasco of tests and treatment by his colleague. We anticipated a better course of treatment by this"specialist". Only recommendation was elbow surgery on my 15 year old. No assurance surgery was the long term cure, especially after we obtained 2nd opinion with from children's ortho specialist at CMC sports medicine clinic. The Dr is a nice guy and personable, but not our cup of tea. Also, waiting for refund x 8 wks... not holding breath , still trying
