Very good doctor & surgeon
Dr. Graf is very personable, down-to-earth, honest professional and caring. I would highly recommend him. I had a lot of pain for years in my lower back & it only kept getting worse. I had spinal stenosis due to severe osteoarthritis and a bulging disk. The surgery went very well. After being home a few days I became swollen in my legs and feet, so I called & left a message for Dr. Graf. He personally called me to ask a few questions & to have me set up a time to get a scan done for blood clots. He called again after the scan to let me know everything was okay. The last time a doctor himself called the house was our family doctor when I was a child! I was very impressed with Dr. Graf for showing so much care for his patients. At a few weeks before the one yr. mark, I slightly moved a reclining chair and it didn't hurt. Then I vacuumed just a bit - and it didn't hurt I felt like my back was really strong. Almost 2 yrs. now & I am pain free! Thank you. Dr. Graf!

Dr. Graf is a very caring, professional Dr.
I was referred to Dr. Graf by my brother. I was hesitant about finding a trustworthy physician for my back. Through x-rays he explained the problem and what should be done. I am so grateful for the treatment and follow ups that took care of the constant pain in my back. I will forever be grateful for care he gave me.

Happy
Smart, personable, won't try to sell you. He showed up positively in my web searches for a surgeon, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. After three years of lumbar stenosis, multiple epidurals for relief, and then a herniation a year ago, I finally decided it was time for surgery. The two months prior to surgery, I was on a cane and unable to walk more than about 50 yards without sitting down. Today, two months after surgery, I am cleared to resume normal activity. Thanks Doc.

My second opinion became my plan!
I saw Dr. Graf for a second opinion regarding low back and leg pain. My original doctor recommended a very extensive surgery and I felt it was important to get more information prior to surgery. Dr. Graf spent a long time with me going over my X-rays and MRI, he explained the procedure he would suggest and his reasoning. I felt very comfortable with him and appreciated all the time he spent with me both prior and post surgery. My surgery went very well, pain was gone very quickly and my recovery was smooth. I have shared Dr. Graf’s name with friends and will continue to do so.

I Have My Life Back
I've always considered myself a very active and healthy person. However, I developed a bulging disc that caused unbearable chronic pain. I tried everything to fix it on my own but after a year and a half, I sought out Dr. Carl Graf to perform a microdiscectomy. Everything was explained thoroughly by Dr. Graf and his staff. The procedure itself was minimally invasive and was performed on an out-patient basis. When I woke up from surgery, my nerve pain was completely gone. And the recovery time has been minimal as well. I'm living my life again. Needless to say, I am a huge advocate for Dr. Graf and his team. It’s not worth it to live through chronic pain. I'm beyond grateful!

Spinal stenosis
After failed epidural injections and physical therapy to relieve back pain Dr Graf performed a laminectomy for severe spinal stenosis at the L4-5 level with pain radiating down my right leg to my ankle. The result was immediate pain relief. I can now walk without having to sit down after 10 minutes. He listens and makes suggestions of other treatment modalities before talking about surgery. So glad I went to him !

Dr. Graf and the staff at the Illinois Spine Institute in Crystal Lake were absolutely wonderful! I had been dealing with lower back pain and nerve pain shooting down my leg for months and Dr. Graf was the only doctor that took me seriously. He was able to book me in for surgery within 2 weeks of seeing him and really seemed to care about the amount of pain I was in. He takes time with his patients during visits and he even went out of his way to hunt down the anesthesiologist right before they wheeled me in for surgery to ask him about a concern I had on my EKG. After 8 months of constant pain, Dr. Graf gave me my life back and I will be forever grateful.
