If you want wholesome, pleasant bedside manner, he’s your guy. If you want a gastroenterologist who allows the anaesthesiologist to bully him, he’s your guy. If you want a guy who practices “defensive” medicine, rather than the logical use of the probability & statistics of both patient experience and his own, he’s your guy. In the course of my adult life, I have had 3 unsedated, IV-free colonoscopies & 2 upper endoscopic experiences. I only know them that way. I have been getting colonoscopies longer than he has even been a physician. Sedation & IV-punctures come with risks I am not willing to sign off on, because 3x/2x I have experienced scoping free on those risks & know what to expect. I got dressed and walked out. Ended up getting the sedation-free, IV-free experience at UCHEALTH Anschutz booked shortly after I got dressed & walked out of the profit-driven, volume-focused, assembly line mentality of Centura Health’s GI Lab and this doctor with the backbone of a jellyfish.

Dr. Swendsen is an absolutely amazing doctor. He made me feel so comfortable.

I had a Colonoscopy without sleeping since I had to drive home. I am very glad of the experience. Dr. Swendsen & his nursing staff were very efficient professional, concerned and friendly. He let me watch the procedure & described what he was doing & why. He is an outstanding Doctor.

Saw Dr. Swendsen for a routine colonoscopy. The whole experience was great. The office staff were friendly and upbeat. The nursing staff were patient and knowledgeable as was Dr. Swendsen.
