Dr. Carlos Estrada Jr, MD

After our son’s urologist left to go to another hospital system, and being in limbo for 6+ months with no specialist, we decided to transfer care to BCH. After a lot of research to make sure we found the right doctor for our son, we scheduled with Dr. Estrada. Everything from the scheduling, coordination of all his same day testing and the hospital being super aware and a well-run machine with patients traveling from far away being fantastic, Dr. Estrada blew us away. He is humble, patient, and spoke to us in a way we very clearly understood our son’s condition (light bulbs went off that hadn’t in two years, in a 1.5 hour appt at 4 pm on a Friday). He was not rushed. His confidence on what Our son needs and why, convinced us without doubt that following his lead is the right plan. There was a great explanation for everything. I can truly say I think we our in great hands with Dr. Estrada and glad we are moving forward with the surgery suggested and treatment plan.

Dr. Estrada is an excellent surgeon and we had a great experience with taking care of my 6 year old with a hydrocele. While this is a common issue among boys, it was a little scary for us since it involved surgery for my child. Dr. Estrada was very communicative, scheduled us for surgery himself, drew pictures for my son to help him understand his body and what needed to be done, and appropriately answered our questions about the surgery, staff assisting him, and overall risks and benefits. I would not hesitate to recommend him to any other family.

My son needed to be examined to see if his circumcision needed to be redone. For him, I'm sure, very straight forward, not much to it. But for me, my son is my world and I was so nervous. Dr. Estrada was very calm, positive and reassuring. He immediately connected with us and had a way of soothing us (really, me). This also, was virtual. So impressive. I wish he was a pediatrician! :-) The world needs more of him. Thank you.

A special human being! Our young daughter has special needs, and Dr. Estrada treated her and us like people not patients! He is a kind, compassionate, and caring physician who took a huge amount of time to describe what he thought was going on. We cannot thank him enough.

Dr. Estrada is the best! He Is very knowledgeable and always takes the time to answer our questions. We highly recommend him!

Dr. Estrada has been taking care of our son since he was a fetus 10 years ago! From that very first visit we knew we were in the best hands. Unfortunately our son has needed several surgeries because of a developmental bladder and kidney issue, but Dr. Estrada has done incredible work and gotten us all through. I can't recommend him highly enough and we are blessed to have connected with him. Thank you Boston Children's Hospital!

Not a good listener. It seemed he had something else on his mind and he was not really interested in answering our questions. Impatient and in a rush throughout our visit.

Had a wonderful experience bringing my son to see Dr Estrada at the BCH Waltham campus. The office was clean, staff was very helpful and friendly and the appointment ran on time. Dr Estrada was very thorough in his exam and explained his findings in a way we could all understand. He asked more than once if we had any other questions or if what he had explained was clear. Never once did we feel rushed. What a kind and caring physician. I would recommend Dr Estrada to any parent looking for a urologist for their child!

We saw Dr Estrada today with our 10 day old baby, I was nervous before about the procedure that our son would have to eventually get but after meeting with him I am confident and at ease. He is very kind and makes you completely comfortable, he also explains everything and was open to any questions we had!

Dr. Estrada helped our newborn baby with emergency surgery. At the time, we were so distraught and fearful, but Dr. Estrada was very kind and reassuring. He made time for us and gave us thoughtful and clear advice. We believe Dr. Estrada's expertise and skills in helping our son will give him a healthy start in life.

Dr. Estrada is truly a gifted doctor! He was recommended to us by a family whose child has the same thing as our child - spina bifida. We traveled from New York to see him and it was worth all of our efforts. He did testing that allowed him to treat our child in a very thorough way, and for the first time in his 8 years of life, our son is wearing underwear and we are not worried about his kidneys.We can't say enough great things about Dr. Estrada. I wish there were more physicians like him.

We had a poor experience with this doctor. He was pompous and unwilling to fully explain and discuss my child's condition and treatment options. The language he used was very dramatic and seemed aimed at getting us to agree with him so we wouldn't bother him with questions and concerns.
