Dr. Carlos Palacio, MD

I'm going way back to 2012. I had a bleed in my brain and an associated hemorrhagic stroke. We started out at a local small hospital where a ct scan revealed the blood pooling in my skull and the choice was to transport me to Portsmouth or Boston. I chose Portsmouth as it was closer. Once the bleeding was under control, it was revealed that I had a significant clotting situation that had my entire left side shut down. Enter Dr Palacio. He explained the severity of the situation very clearly, and recommended surgery to removed the clot and thus the pressure causing my left side deficit. Explained the potential risks associated with the surgery. And opposing risks for not having the surgery. He provided us with more than enough information to be able to make the decision very easy. Today I'm 98% recovered with only a very minor vision field deficit. Everything else is good.

He answered all of my questions; he showed me exactly where my injury was; and, he provided excellent advice on my recovery. It was practical and easy to follow; and, most importantly, I have completely recovered as a result of his skill and knowledge. I highly recommend Dr. Palacio!

Emergency surgery for discectomy L4L5. Dr. Palacio fit me in prior to his summer vacation. All pain was relieved and I was walking 4 hrs. after surgery. The incision healed perfectly. Portsmouth Hospital was a 5 star as well.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Carlos Palacio. In addition to being an excellent neurosurgeon, Dr. Palacio is a wonderful, caring human being. He takes the time to truly listen to his patients and is a most compassionate and caring physician. I am 88 years old and have been in pain for the past 15 years despite having several other back surgeries. I am only 2 1/2 weeks post-op and am already experiencing an improved quality of life. Carlos Palacio, MD and his entire staff were very professional, accommodating and timely in their different responsibilities while I was in their care. I selected Dr Palacio because of his vast experience and expertise as a neurosurgeon and the recommendation from my PP and his former patients. His medical staff is very qualified and the office staff friendly, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend Dr Palacio to anyone requiring a consultation and if needed surgery by a very skilled neurosurgeon.

The good Doctor did a spinal fusion on me in 2004 or2006 wonderful job. I was very impressed by his work. I would recommend him highly.

The most competent and caring doctor I've ever worked with. Dr. Palacio performed two back surgeries (20 years apart) - each of which was completely successful. I was nearly pain free the day immedicately after surgery (with the exception of the incision). But the leg pain was gone.
