Caring and thorough
Dr Tang is a very thoughtful, compassionate and knowledgeable provider. She doesn't rush through appointments and takes her time to clearly explain all relevant information. She also remembers personal details about her patients which not all providers. She makes you feel like a person and not a number. I highly recommend Dr Tang.

Worst medical appointment experience I ever had
If you are new to the endo department, please avoid Dr. Tang at all costs. I saw Dr. Tang after being referred by the gyno to discuss hormonal imbalance issues. She was so incredibly rude and condescending. I asked a clarifying question and I kid you not she laughed in my face as if I was stupid for asking. I left that appointment with no questions and answered and feeling like I wasn't taken seriously at all.

Don’t listen to the haters
I am currently under Dr. Tangs care for Hashimoto’s thyroiditis after giving birth to my second child & she is just wonderful! Really walked me through my diagnosis & what was happening to my body. She listened to my concerns & assured me that we could get me feeling like myself again. She is extremely knowledgeable & I found her to be a very caring person in the times we’ve had our appointments. Someone you can really talk to. If I could give her 6 stars I would. 8 weeks out from my diagnosis & I’m feeling amazing

Thank you thank you!!!
Telehealth
Dr. Tang was my endocrinologist for three years while I lived in Boston. She helped me manage my thyroid levels before, during, and after my first pregnancy, and she helped me in the beginnign of my second pregnancy before I moved out of the area. She did an excellent job managing my health, and she always showed genuine interest in how I was doing. I would definitely recommend her to those looking for an experienced and kind endocrinologist. I was able to see her for in-person and telehealth appointments, which was very convenient considering how often you need to be monitored during pregnancy. Thank you, Dr. Tang!!!

I’ve seen Dr. Tang for many years and have always had a good experience at every visit. She is warm, listens to my concerns and works with me to manage my condition. She pays careful attention to my test results and is able to explain complex things in understandable terms. I highly recommend her for endocrinology.

Hang in there -- Dr. Tang is great!
I worry that the negative reviews by some may be off-putting. To be totally transparent, after my first visit with Dr. Tang, I was also a bit uncertain --my first impression was that she was a bit reserved. Now, after a few follow ups, I feel extremely justified in leaving her a 5 star rating. In my subsequent visits, she has proven to be sympathetic, understanding, knowledgable, and responsive. She has been really helpful in suggesting treatments, understanding and navigating insurance constraints, and listening. I trust her judgement and feel extremely grateful to have her as my doctor.

Horrible, waste of time
I went to her with an autoimmune thyroid disorder hoping to talk to someone knowledgeable and with an open mind. She proved she’s none of that. Even though I’ve been on medications, I still have quite a bit of symptoms, tiredness being one of them. When I complained about that, I heard: “I don’t want to say it’s in your head but…” and here she started talking about how nothing is the same after you have a child and basically shaming me for being a stay at home mother. She “advised” me to put my 3 year old in a daycare and maybe go back to work because that’s what she had done and it made her feel great. She also stated that she’s never going to recheck my thyroid antibodies (seemed surprised my pcp did) because they’re always gonna be there, they do fluctuate but no one knows why (she clearly doesn’t) and they don’t mean much. She then ignored my other symptoms that clearly indicated I needed more blood tests (I had them done later by a different doctor). What a waste of time!

I waited four months to see her after getting some bloodwork done to evaluate thyroid health, and at the appointment she explained that the abnormal test results I received four months ago were not relevant and did not warrant any follow up. When I expressed concern over a variety of symptoms I have, likely related to autoimmune diseases or hormonal imbalances, she said that anything outside of the thyroid is not in her wheelhouse and that thyroid problems are her 'bread and butter'. She may be helpful if you have a clear-cut thyroid disorder. She was dismissive, inexperienced, and not interested in examining complex symptoms for underlying cause. She used condescending tone for the entirety of the appointment. I'm guessing this is due to inexperience and lack of self-confidence, but it was infuriating none the less.

Do not recommend
- I do not recommend subjecting yourself to Dr. Catherine J. Tang. Her bedside manner was rude and condescending. I attended this appointment for a second opinion and to find answers to symptoms I was having. I left this appointment being told nothing is wrong with me and that I was spending my money on the wrong tests/medications. No one should feel that way leaving a doctor's appointment.

Kind and informative
Dr. Tang effectively explained to me what could be an endocrine problem and what was likely not, and recommended appropriate testing. She shared a lot of useful information for my health. I would trust her for my health needs.

Dr. Tang is a kind and caring doctor who listens and answers questions. She's hard to reach between visits though. She does not use patient portal messaging. Phone calls answered by staff may not relay your questions accurately; in my case one about hormone dosing for my complicated adrenal illness was initially met with the advice to ask my PCP. It was eventually answered, but if you need to communicate between visits or prefer electronic messaging, it may not ne a good fit.
