My expectations were not met at all
My expectations for a full knee replacement would have been much higher. I had follow up appointments after the surgery and told Dr. Ortiguera that my knee was still quite painful. One year plus post surgery it is still sore and achy and borderline unstable. I am disappointed and I am not sure what to do at this point.

Dr. Ortiguera did a total knee replacement on my right knee. I had more than one consultation with him before deciding to do the knee replacement, even though he came highly recommended to me. He answered all my questions and was extremely patient. As my surgeon, I think he was flawless. He has been instrumental in initiating and using robotic assisted surgery in his knee replacements. I recommend him highly. Everyone on his team is first class. I am very grateful to have him as my surgeon and be fortunate enough to be a Mayo Clinic patient.

Arrogant and Nasty
I saw this doctor for a second opinion for a second knee surgery. The hospital where I had the first surgery was repsonsible for the knee ligaments tearing a second time, and to avoid a lawsuit they falsified their records about my stay. He repeated their lies without talking to me about them, added some lies of his own, and made a number of uncalled for speculations and insinuations about my character with no basis for his comments.

Fantastic Surgeon
As a physician, I understand what it takes to be a great doctor. I looked everywhere in central Florida, including USF, and did research. I chose Dr Otiguera for my surgery and couldn't be more pleased. I had a very unique issue and he corrected the problem with his expert surgery. It was well worth the three hour drive to get his expertise and experience. I am so happy with Mayo and this doctor

Best Orthopedic Doctor in Jax
I have had two flawless surgeries with Dr Ortiguera, and in fact I gave his information to a gentleman who is looking to get a total knee replacement My first surgery was a total knee replacement in late December, 2017. At the end of February, 2018, I spent two days up and down a ladder carrying roofing materials for our son's house without pain. The 2nd was a revision surgery for a torn rotator cuff. I had two prior surgeries, the 2nd of which was a total failure and Dr. Ortiguera simply opened up the shoulder, did all his work and today I have 95% use of the shoulder. Others said nothing could be done, or I would need the shoulder reversal surgery. Every appointment with him has been on time, he has taken the time to listen, and explained everything in layman terms.

Definitely
Dr. Ortiguera is the very best You do not want to consider anyone else. He is an excellent 5 star surgeon. As a person he is very friendly. They do not come any better. If you have to wait for an appointment it is well worth it. I have two new shoulders and two new knees.

Dr. Ortiguera is, I can attest, the finest orthpedist in this region. I have had double-digit orthopedic surgeries in three states and I now have 2 shoulders and 2 knees that "belong" to him. The pain is gone; I can move almost like I did 30 years ago, and I appreciate this doctor more than words can tell. I have recomended him to everyone I care about, and they will lucky beyohd belief if they can "get into line" to be "fixed" by this genius of a doctor.

I came to this doctor because of all the good things I heard about Mayo Clinic. He threw diagnosis after Diagnosis at my knees and shoulder, But he never once let me even show him how it locks. I have probably wasted 15 trips going to see them. He last visit he sent me to a less skilled dr. Who trained under him, I think I brought humility back to all of them because they never did find out what was wrong with me. If you need a good Orthopedic don’t go here the only thing you might get is a high quality MRI, which did have the right diagnosis but Ortegurea said “I’m not impressed with your MRI” meaning nothing it wrong. Well they got what they wanted I went somewhere else

Dr. Ortiguera is an outstanding and highly gifted surgeon. He has a reputation for excellence. He performed a reverse shoulder replacement surgery on my husband and we could not be happier. He is a caring person with wonderful communication and social skills. Dr. Ortiguera works out if Mayo Clinic. The combination of a highly skilled surgeon and an excellent hospital is every patient’s dream! We are so happy we found this combination!
