Shockingly arrogant and insensitive
Two weeks after his full knee replacement surgery, my 79 year old father is in terrible pain and can’t sleep. When we went to his post-op appointment and shared our concerns, Burgoyne literally LAUGHED and shrugged and said, “That’s what you signed up for.” He wouldn’t give strategies or solutions. He tried to push my dad’s care to another physician, because he refused to treat—or even consider—my dad’s sleeplessness and how it was hindering his recovery. I was speechless at Burgoyne’s lack of professionalism or any attempt at what effective physicians call a “bedside manner”. I’ve dealt with dozens of doctors in my life. Burgoyne takes the prize as the most arrogant and insensitive.

This was the worst doctor in every way possible!
I went to this doctor because I had severe pain in my gluteal region and could barely walk. He stood in front of me with his arms crossed, proceeded to tell me that the MRI findings were incorrect, and that they 'always say it is a tear when it rarely is.' He told me the pain was age related deterioration, and he couldn't do anything for me. He suggested a very expensive procedure that is not covered by my insurance and basically sent me on my way. He offered a referral to another surgeon who might recommend arthroscopic surgery, but he didn't think so. He also didn't recommend a steroid injection. He did nothing but pass me off to someone who does the same thing as he does. Well, the other doctor took a chance and gave me a steroid injection into the area that he thought might be the problem. He believed I HAD A HAMSTRING TEAR (Just like the radiologist said) and took a chance. Guess what, it worked! I am walking normal again and i have no pain. Thanks for nothing Burgoyn

He is so good with kids! We came in after my daughter fell off the monkey bars and broke her forearm (apparently a top 3 injury...). Dr Burgoyne came down to the ER between surgeries to set her arm and we couldn't be happier. He was so nice and really put us at ease about what to expect. This was our first major injury and I was a little "freaked out" about the whole experience. My husband and I left feeling much better and Kylie loves her new cast!

Dr. Burgoyne was willing to come in to the hospital on the Fourth of July to perform my ankle surgery (both fistula and tibia fractured, with dislocation). I live in Portland, and so transferred my follow up care to another orthopedic surgeon in Milwaukie, who had nothing but praise for the results of the surgery visible to him in the xrays and CT images. I am grateful to Dr. Burgoyne for being a dedicated professional who is willing to put the needs of injured patients ahead of convenience.

Dr. Burgoyne is a very skilled surgeon. His pre-op and post-op care of my knee replacement has been excellent. He encourages me to questions anything and everything I can think of, and he provides me with clear explanations of procedures and recovery challenges and expectations. Him also shows a desire to constantly improve accepted surgical procedures. I believe Dr. Burgoyne is a welcome asset to the Hood River orthopedic medicine, and I hope he can establish his practice here.
