Dr. Kundavaram provided compassionate, amazing care to my husband when he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer at the age of 54. As a result of being diagnosed with high grade cancer, my father had his left kidney, left ureter and a small piece of his bladder removed by Dr. Kundavaram in late November, 2023. In an effort to qualify for a liver clinical trial, and fortunately for me, an MRI discovered a tumor on my left kidney. I was referred to Dr. Kundavaram by my primary physician which was the second fortunate occurrence for me. Dr. Kundavaram was excellent during our first and subsequent discussions regarding my options and recommendations for next steps. He clearly communicated the details of each option and our mutual decision to proceed with the removal of the tumor through a partial nephrectomy and, if necessary, a full nephrectomy. My surgery went very well with removal of the carcinoma and only minimal removal of some of my left kidney and no indications of cancer beyond that kidney. Dr. Kundavaram then laid out a plan for frequent follow up testing in the years ahead. I would highly recommend Dr. Kundavaram for urological issues based on his expertise along with his excellent communication and surgical skills.

I am 52 years old.. My Diagnosis: Kidney, right, nephrectomy - Renal cell carrinoma I was fortunate to have been referred to a Surgical Urologist, Dr. Chandan Kundavaram M.D. by my medical oncologist. The appointments I had with Dr. Kundavaram prior to the operation were very reassuring and optimistic for me. I was impressed with his knowledge and experience plus also how he demonstrated a professional interest and compassion regarding my condition. Not only did Dr. Kundavaram and his medical staff work with me coordinating time frame procedure availability, but the treatment and care I received from him and his coworkers helped me tremendously while recovering from kidney cancer. I had a couple of scans a few months ago which confirmed a tumor in my left kidney. My oncologist said I needed an immediate procedure to minimize any risks to my kidney and referred me to Dr. Kundavaram. It was the best thing that ever happened to me! Dr. Kundavaram's staff were nice and friendly and when I eventually met Dr. Kundavaram, I was prepared for the worst. But his calming smile gave me hope and confidence. He showed me a video of the tumor (about 5cm), put his hand on my shoulder, and calmly told me it was possible to remove the tumor through a partial nephrectomy, which is minimally invasive. He explained the process in detail and said he would do his best to save my kidney. Those were the words I remembered when I came to moments after surgery and heard Dr. Kundavaram saying, "it (tumor) was removed without damage to the kidney. We didn't remove the kidney"! Every step of my recovery has been as explained by the Doctor himself; I'm amazed at how fast the recovery has been

I went to an emergency room at Abrazzo on Lake Pleasant with kidney pain. After labs and scan I was informed I had to have an immediate procedure and was transferred to Arrowhead Hospital. Dr. Kundavaram was paged (I was not a previous patient) and came and did the procedure. Thank you for leaving your office to help me. It was very much appreciated. I have since been to the office and he and his staff are excellent. I am glad that he was called for the procedure. I'm not lucky in Las Vegas but I got the winner when Dr. K was assigned to me. No stent or catheter was put in and my husband had so much pain and couldn’t go to the bathroom. Nurse didn’t call until 5 pm. Never heard from doctor which he said he would talk to my husband about his procedure when he woke up. We ended up going to the ER. My husband could of had bladder eruption is what we’re told at the ER.

While on vacation in Arizona, I went to hospital emergency and after a diagnosis and surgical procedure from Joshua Jones, MD, he referred me to Chandan Kundavaram, MD to evaluate my medical situation. Dr K. and his medical team went to great lengths to run several tests with other medical services including ordering an MRI and an appointment with a cardiologist. Five weeks after my emergency trip to the hospital Dr. K. performed a successful robotic right radical nephrectomy and removal of a right renal mass. Dr K was able to successfully remove my renal cell carcinoma with minimal loss of kidney after being told by another physician I would need a radical nephrectomy. His demeanor and patience when dealing with our questions was exemplary. Would highly recommend him!

I was diagnosed with RCC and at first I was very scared, but right away Dr.Kundavaram got straight to it, brought me good news and a way to make it through this, the surgery went well to remove the whole kidney, hes definitely great at what he does, I'm healing very fast no complications, this is a very awesome Dr I would definitely recommend getting in there and getting looked at and handled, nothing to be afraid of! I have been treated by Dr Kundavararam for Kidney Stones. My situation was extremely serious and required major surgery. I was referred to Dr. Kundavaram with a simple cyst on my kidney, progressed through the diagnostic process, and the eventual removal of the kidney. During that process I was always confident that my questions and concerns were treated seriously and candidly, with a very personable approach. That confidence was also supported by my patient advocate, also an MD. At every step, I was advised of the options that were available and the risks and benefits of each. When the time came to decide on a surgical approach, Dr. Kundavaram's experience with robotic assistance became very evident; he removed my kidney on a Tuesday morning and I walked out of the hospital on Thursday, without assistance. Recovering at home, my discomfort was manageable with an NSAID. I highly recommend Dr. Kundavaram, without reservation.

I first saw Dr. Kundavaram (Dr. K) about 3 years ago for a very enlarged prostate with a high PSA count. In Nov 2019 I had the Green Light Laser (PVP) surgery. Dr. K was methodical throughout the process which included an MRI, deep tissue biopsy, and a 4K blood test which determines the odds of prostate cancer. Dr. K explained the various steps taken along the way as well as my surgery options. I did my own research and it seemed the PVP surgery had the most reliable and longest term results. I felt Dr. K was very proactive and thorough during my treatment. His staff couldn't have been more professional. I've had several follow-ups with Dr. K and everything is normal and my quality of life is better than I could have ever imagined. The recovery from surgery was more irritating than painful but looking where I am at today and the long term prognosis I would got through it all over again. I give Dr. K my highest recommendation as a person and urologist. Thank you Dr. K!
