My husband was very ill in the ER at CHOMP from chronic alcoholism. My husband is a sweetheart with a disease. Dr. Bates told me I needed to sell our house, he said this four times, and after selling our house I was to tell my husband I’m leaving where are you going to go? This was his idea of getting my husband to stop drinking. I was shocked. He doesn’t know us at all. If he comes into your room tell him to leave. He doesn’t care about you or your loved one...just giving his arrogant advice, which he doesn’t have a clue about or even care.

Dr. Bates bedside manner is poor at best. He is arrogant and belittling. As his nurse told us he does not like to be inconvenienced. He disregarded our concerns and was dismissive overall.
