On my first visit he openly showed disdain for providing routine footcare for elderly patients and gave me two referrals closer to my residence to "save on gasoline cost.' I did schedule my next appointment with another podiatrist, but the care just wasn't the same high standard that McFarland provides. I contacted McFarland again for another podiatrist but was again scheduled with Dr. Gilarski. I received terrible treatment for my feet (small cut when hastily removing a callous) I had a small corn on a little toe that takes a minute to remove. I only need this done twice a year. He recommended surgery to remove a bone in my toe to eliminate the problem. I'm 69 years old and a diabetic. The last thing I want is surgery where I have the poorest circulation in my body and takes the longest time to heal. And infection is always a risk. The appointment ended with once again being encouraged to find a doctor closer home "to save on gasoline cast." I'm done. I will find another podiatrist.

I visited Dr. Gilarski in the last couple of weeks and I had a slightly different experience to some other reviewers on here. I didn’t find him to be a jerk. However, I did discover that he doesn’t really listen. After being fairly careful to relate the issues I’ve been having with my feet, and due to me being out of condition by my previous job, I’m now too overweight to reach my feet adequately to trim my toenails, but have other issues with both my nails and my feet. After hearing this and me being forthcoming on the paperwork you fill out prior to you going back to the exam room, he stated that if I didn’t have diabetes, then really there wasn’t anything he could do for me, but since I was there he’d trim my nails. To my knowledge, no one at the PCP office who referred me said anything about me having diabetes which I don’t have, so I don’t know where that came from. Seriously?

I found Dr. Gilarski to be patronizing, a poor communicator, a poor listener, and defensive. I’ve talked to several other women who had similar experiences. Unfortunately I would not recommend him, but there are several other podiatrists in the area to see.
