Thank you Dr. Maitland!
An old master! Dr. Maitland was very thorough and sat with me explaining the results of my test. He answered all of my questions. He didn't waste time but he didn't rush either. I wish more doctors would explain, in simple terms what their finding are.

Very experienced and kind
I had a complex oto-neurological problem that no one could diagnose. He figured it out and got me the meds and vestibular rehab that I needed. Very smart and kind and has seen it all. I’m grateful. Don’t care if he is old and the office has old decor: I’m there for the medical expertise and experience. No one else could figure it out but he actually gave a physical neuro exam and other tests and put it all together. Thank heavens.

Should not be in practice anymore!
My ophthalmologist referred me to him re: double vision which he thinks is neurological. I waited 3 weeks, having been told THEY would call me. When I finally was able to reach them they said they never recd a referral. Called Dr. Kato's office back again - thank God Valerie at his office is very competent. She advised they had sent the referral Nov. 9, but she would send it again. This went on another 2 weeks, at which time Valerie spoke with someone at Maitland's ofc who promised they would call me that day. No one ever called. I waited 2 more days - my husband had an appt. with Maitland on that very day so I knew they were in the office that day. Called Valerie again, this time NOT wanting to go to Maitland, even if I actually was able to get a referral. How can I expect any kind of care from a doctor who can't even schedule a referral without being hounded for 6 weeks! He should not be allowed to waste patient's time when they are waiting for treatment.

Great doctor!
I really like Dr Maitland and he has been my neurologist for a couple of years now. He is knowledgeable, patient, explains things well and he's down to earth too. This guy has decades of experience and you can't put a price tag on that. I worked for 30 years as an RN and experience in a healthcare provider means everything to me. This guy knows his stuff. I am so glad that he is my neurologist.

Old, dirty and tired!
Reception area is old and dirty. Dr. Maitland is very kind but it is way past time for him to retire. He does not have qualified staff to handle his office needs. It is a sad situation!

Don’t waste your time
Got a referral from my retinologist. However Dr Maitlands office does not answer their phone. After several weeks of leaving messages they finally called me back and left me a message that they had one appointment on the last day before I started a new job out of town and asked me to call and confirm. Of course they didn’t answer the phone so I drove to Tallahassee to their office to confirm. They had already given away my appointment. The woman at the front desk was rude and unaccommodating, saying they don’t answer their phone because there’s only one doctor there and they would never get anything done if they did. This is the shabbiest medical treatment I have ever received in my life. I would never ever recommend anyone using this doctor. Don’t waste your time or money on this doctor. Question the judgement of anyone who refers you to Dr Maitland.

The staff moved my husband’s first visit up immediately when I described worsening symptoms. Dr. Maitland and staff were exceedingly kind and professional. He gave a thorough exam and diagnosis, prescribing medicine which is helping quickly, and providing reason material on several aspects of the disease. Although tough to get through on the phone, once answered the assistance is quick and pleasant.

As an MD myself, I was very impressed and satisfied by my evaluation performed by Dr. Maitland. In my case, no high-tech (read: expensive) imaging or testing was required. Using a very detailed physical exam, he pinpointed the source of my balance disorder and prescribed appropriate therapy.

I would not recommend Dr. Maitland. You will wait hours Wait times can take hours only to have him breeze through in a few minutes. He doesn't listen to what you have to say. After a few tests, he basically told me I had minnears syndrome bc they couldn't figure out what it was, put me on medication that isn't even the frontline treatment anymore and told me I can stop taking it whenever I want. The side effects included the symptoms so I eventually stopped taking it and just live with my issue

After reading the negative reviews on Dr. Maitland and his staff, I felt the need to submit my own review. The entire staff was courteous and professional. I was treated respectfully and given ample opportunity to ask questions and discuss my issues. After a very thorough examination I was given detailed information regarding my diagnosis and every available treatment alternative was discussed. I left feeling that I was in very capable hands and would not hesitate to recommend this practice.

Dr. Maitland is very skilled & I went to him after seeing another specialist hoping to get some real results instead of being told to take a pill. He didn't solve my issue. Instead he wanted to give me more medicine to stop my headaches instead of finding the root of the problem. I don't understand why you want to keep medicating me to cover up the issue instead of solving it. I told him I didn't want to take a pill. Ended up with a prescription that I didn't fill after it took them 2 weeks

He is very condescending to his patience. His staff is rude. His balance therapist is wonderful. My experiences with doctor Maitland his self i had a CT done in the first part of Aug. 2016 . It took my husband to find out that the results where "normal". I still have the vertigo so bad just walking across the room is very hard to do. No one in 2 1/2 months has told me what my next step is. he was suppose to call me today office now closed. not call.

The doctor is great, he clearly explains things and all, but they did not care about a full patient history, office staff is rude and inconsiderate, office hours are restricting and you can't leave messsages.

Spent 2 hours waiting to meet with the nurse practitioner. The receptionist didn't even bother to tell me she was running behind until I made mention that I was leaving. I will never go back.
