I called the doctor's office in Alexandria, my primary care physician recommended, but they didn't accept Medicare. I found Dr. McBride online and called his office. Since I had a positive cologuard test, Allison wanted to give me an early appointment. Dr. McBride called and gave me my appointment date. Before my colonoscopy with Dr. McBride the staff at Inova Springfield/Franconia were very caring and prepared me for the colonoscopy. A nurse brought me a warm blanket before I went under the Anesthesia. I didn't feel anything. After the colonoscopy. Dr. McBride's news wasn't good. He immediately arranged a CT scan and an appointment with a surgeon. After surgery, I found out my mass wasn't cancerous. I was very fortunate, but regretted not having a colonoscopy earlier. Dr. McBride took good care of me and i recommend him.

Unproffesional
Telehealth
Waited over a month for a telemedicine appointment for which he was a no-show. Have to wait another 5 weeks to see a different doctor who actually 'sees' you. Apparently this doctor's time is more important then mine.

Great experience
Dr. McBride is easy to deal with, reassuring, and after having several colonoscopies with other doctors, all of whom were perfectly fine and pleasant, but none gave me the comfortable feeling or the attention I received from Dr. McBride. He’s my guy.

Incorrectly billing
This office wasted 3 months of my life. I made an appointment for a telemedicine visit. They tried to code it as a surgical visit and demanded the entire amount for the visit in cash since I hadn't hit my deductible instead of just my co-pay for a specialist visit. Their billing office was closed so they suggested that I reschedule the visit so they could work it out with me later. I called again. Same story, and no attempt to rectify the mistake.Find another doctor.

Cancelled after two-month wait with no notice
I waited more than two mo this for my appointment. I tried to submit the information they requested online, but their portal was down. I called multiple times to get this rectified but no one returned my voicemail. Two days before the appointment, I was called and informed my information was missing. I let them know I had called about the portal. They really-opened it and asked I simply put in my information before the visit. I agreed. The next day (the day before visit, a work day) they called at 915am and said I only had until 2pm that day to submit my paperwork. They then cancelled my appointment at 1030am, not even giving me until there sudden new deadline. I lost two months I could’ve been working in my symptoms with another doctor.

I had a prior procedure, liked the Doctor, and was due for the next one. I scheduled telehealth consult two months ago. They called a week before the appointment for my drivers license and insurance card. I reminded them I'm an established patient and they had all that on file. They needed it updated, so I asked for a secure means of sending since it contained PII. I did receive a secure email from them with instructions on how to submit the documents, which I was going to scan and upload when I got off work. An hour later, I received a threatening voicemail, with an ultimatum that if I didn't submit by 4PM, my appointment the following week would be cancelled because they needed it for another patient. Not sure why there was an issue with later that same evening, or why they would prioritize one patient over another. I cannot recommend them due to the unprofessional and dismissive office staff, lackadaisical approach to PII, and total disregard for patient issues or concerns.

McBride is a great doc, thorough and personable. Business office is another story. They demand "deductible" payments upfront for office visits and procedures, even though our primary and secondary insurance covers those payments. Then we have to pester his office for refund checks. I showed up for my colonoscopy (my 4th with him) and they refused to start the procedure until I paid a $350 deductible, which I then had to wait months to have refunded. And they won't tell you you have a credit, you have to know to ask. They are very uncooperative in providing supporting documentation and receipts for the amounts they collect. For my last visit, they refused to provide any documentation, even a receipt, for the office visit and provided only a charge card slip for the procedure payment. His business staff is a major fly in the ointment of what could be a great doctor experience.

Very personable, explains the tests and conditions, and answers all my questions very clearly. As a repeat patient, I recommend him to anyone! What spoils it is his reception staff. I left two messages and never got a returned call. When I did finally get thru, the receptionist was curt nearly to the point of being rude, even over a simple request. Just something to put up with, I guess.

I had been a patient for several years of Dr. McBride. My last visit will be my last. First I waited 1 hour to see him after my scheduled appointment, which I waited 1 month to get. He order 2 tests, one of them being a CT scan. I received the results, but did not hear from the Dr. I called the office 3 times requesting to discuss the results, of which I got the run-around saying they were not in etc... In the end, I was not able to discuss the results with the dr. and was told to make app.

Pros: The doctor is very personable and will take time to talk to you and provide more information than other doctors do. Cons: Appointments run an average of 1 hour behind. The longest I have waited was approx 1 hr, 35 min. Procedures that required fasting and anesthesia had been rescheduled without notification and I ended up showing up at the Surgery Center not knowing this and had to either wait or come back at the new time.

He is so caring and compassionate. You leave his office knowing you have a doctor that listens and cares. He solves health issues and is on top of new medicines and treatments. He returns calls and emails. My only (and I mean only) complaint is that there is usually a long wait in the waiting room. But that is because he spends quality time with every patient. This dr is a keeper!
