Horrible
I just called yesterday and today and left messages for Dr.Rheeman, the office called back stating I’m no longer a patient there. I asked what do you mean? The girl said since I missed two appointments that I was no longer welcome at that practice. I was sent a letter about it a few months prior. They heard my message that I’m in pain. They are cold hearted to just dismiss someone because they missed a few appointments(I did call and cancelled them prior) and when speaking with the girl she stated it was the doctors decision. This has never happened to me and says a lot about him as a person.

unprofessional and predatory
One of the worst experiences I have ever had in a doctor's office. The office and bathrooms are dirty. The staff let things fall through the cracks (double-booked patient appointments, taking six weeks to follow up about referrals). I observed several HIPAA violations while there. For example, staff literally shouted patient information across the office and a doctor entered my exam room and immediately began spouting off another patient's information. Then they revealed that they accepted my optician's referral despite not having the equipment or specialization to evaluate the issue for which I'd been referred. I received no care but was still charged $400 for the 'consultation.' Now, several weeks later, I am still waiting to be referred to a doctor to evaluate a possible ocular tumor.

He’s good at what he does
So, if you are looking for a doctor that coddles you and dotes over you, this isn’t your doc. However, he’s incredibly knowledgeable, intelligent, experienced and one of the best in the area, and that’s why I see him. He will always give proper and thorough diagnosis and treatment. I appreciate his care and vast knowledge despite what others have noticed about his bedside manor. He can cut open an eyeball for goodness sakes, can you do that? Surgeons always have a little bit of quirk. Doesn’t bother me one bit. Absolutely great doctor!

not caring
If you want a doctor that cares and is not condescending, then go elsewhere, seems more like business transaction then a eye exam.

Saw him last year pre-pandemic, spoke to him again yesterday about an odd new symptom. Though not a well-known patient, due to my minimal need for his specialty, I have found him to be thorough, focused and responsive.

No I would not recommend him to family or friends. Rude & condescending. Very abrupt. Unfortunately this practice accepts my insurance & he is the only one in the practice that does the type of exam I need. I was taken to a room & he came in after a while, examined my eyes. He left the room without saying anything & just left me sitting there. I sat for quite a while & was real close to getting up & leaving. Finally someone came & took me to another room that had just been vacated. The next part of my exam needed to be done in that room! Why couldn’t someone have said something to me? I was left not knowing if I was done, should I get up & leave or what? I had drops put in my eyes, I said something about them stinging & the tech said, in a nasty manner, that I have dry eye of course they’re going to sting! I will be looking for another practice to go to before I’m due for my next exam.

I’m sorry some patients had a difficult time. We are fortunate to have a more positive experience with Dr. Rheeman. As my husband suffers from brain, eye muscle surgeries, & stroke,(along with numerous heart surgeries & medication that is known for potential to cause blindness), he very much needed a neuro ophthalmologist. Dr. Rheeman has been quite thorough and no problems experienced. He’s taken interest in my husbands well being during his visits, which we’re grateful for. We’ve been only seeing Dr. Rheeman for my husbands eyes since we moved up here. Now, I will have my first appointment with the doc in a few weeks. I hope he continues to assist us both as he has been. Wishing you all well & safe during these very difficult times. God bless.

Giving one star because leaving zero is not an option. Rude, unkind, pretentious doctor. Treated my elderly parents as if they were insignificant. Repeatedly told my mother that he knew nothing about her, despite having her complete history in front of him then berated her for not seeing the correct doctor in her regular ophthalmology practice. Offered no explanation of the one possible treatment he offered her. Will never recommend Dr. Rheeman to anyone.

Wasted our time. Proposed a possible diagnosis for the patient but then retreated and did nothing. Tried to argue that patient might have had his present sub-acute condition involving subdural hematoma from birth (!?!) and insisted he could only address a problem directly involving the optic nerve, which belies the information on his website.
