Dr. Charles Susong, MD

Have been having yearly checkups with Dr. Susong for about 20 years and have received the best care that I could ever expect from a doctor. He spends plenty of time giving his skin examinations and discussing any needed treatment and precautions that need to be taken to protect from sun damage. He is an excellent doctor and I recommend him to anyone. Yes, it is hard getting appointments at times but that is because he has a large patient base because he is so good. I have no problem getting my appointment in the Spring and in the fall after Summer and possible sun damage.

Very impressed with the time that Dr. Susong spent with me. He was very professional and kind. He answered all of my questions and made sure I didn’t have additional questions.

Perhaps cosmetic (and out of pocket) procedures receive better attention, but I can't recommend Dr Susong for skin cancer or atypical moles. He is brusque, impatient with questions, and I had complications with two different procedures. Despite calls to the office, I had to make an appointment to get biopsy results. I get the impression that they are too busy to be responsive or to deliver any kind of individual attention.

Patient care and follow up is extremely poor. During surgery I asked how many sutures I had and I was told "enough", as though it was none of my business. I asked if they had any suggestions regarding my CPAP machine since the straps would lay close to where the incision was made. They dismissed my concerns. A week after surgery my sutures came undone and I had to have an additional culture done and was left with a hole in my face. They called back and told me that I "may" have an infection and

Signs in the exam rooms state you will be charged $50-$100 for a no show. We have been here for an hour and 37 minutes waiting for our 9:30 am appointment with a nurse. How much di they pay patients when they are no show?

Dr. Susong's partner, Dr. Covi, recommended a procedure (Levulan BLU-U blue light phototherapy), without 1st explaining the procedure is NOT covered by insurance (I only found this out much later). I had a severe allergic reaction to the treatment after 4&1/2 minutes out of a scheduled 15. I asked over & over for lidocaine. They finally gave me after abt a 1/2 hr. I disputed the bill for $588 multiple times. They threatened me with a lawsuit for failure to pay. NOT RECOMMENDED.
