This doctor scheduled me for cancer surgery without providing the fundamental and critical facts to me about the procedure. His failure to communicate was catastrophic. As he was briefly describing my wide margin surgical procedure I asked him “what will you give me” (meaning sedation). His response was “I give nothing”. I was stunned and terrified, but felt I had to press forward. The Friday night before my scheduled surgery I received a call from his assistant regarding my upcoming anesthesia and “nuclear medicine procedure”. This call was how I found out that I was, in fact, expected to go under anesthesia, and that I was scheduled for a procedure involving the injection of radio active dye into the tumor site ( not explained by him. This arrogant man felt there was no reason to inform me of any of this. His response of “I give nothing referred to the fact that only the anesthesiologist gives sedation. This doctor was disgracefully negligent, the worst.

He is fantastic. He is a straight shooter and he will tell you exactly what he thinks. I have melanoma and I am very lucky to have him as my surgeon. My entire team at Dana Farber is excellent and I could not be in better hands. He is very personable and really cares about his patients.
