Great ER Doctor
Couldn't recommend Dr. Atkins more highly. Visited him in the ER after passing out. He ordered many tests, explained everything thoroughly and was kind to me and my wife. I'm following his treatment and I'm feeling much better.

Worst doctor I've ever dealt with
Despite the fact that no liquids were moving through my stomach and I was extremely dehydrated, this guy kept saying, "I don't know what we can do for you here that you can't do at home." After about the third time he said it, I asked him how I was supposed to stay hydrated at home until I could get in with a GI (which could've been at least a month), and he suddenly threw his hands up in the air and yelled, "Fine! We'll do another CT!" and stomped out of the room. I had a clear CT from a month before (same symptoms), so that was both baffling and rude. He prescribed me meds that you should NEVER take with a bleeding ulcer, which I had. He also told me they had no way to diagnose gastroparesis or a stomach obstruction at the same hospital where I was diagnosed with both a week later. I honestly felt like a janitor could've done a better job. He was extremely hateful and didn't seem to have a clue what he he was doing.

His tone is harsh at best. I never saw him in person. While attempting to recover from a head injury he thought it would be a great idea to grill me like a prosecutor for some reason about a complaint letter I had written to Piedmont Mountainside on my poor experience in the ER.The $9100 bill for a CT Scan when I was never examined by the ER dr and he wasn't very alarmed that although I needed lots of addtl med care for a lacerated tongue& broken tooth I certainly was and still am! Wow!

Dr. Atkins is willing to sign medical orders without having actually seen or heard from a patient. After making his decision, and upon the patient not agreeing with it, he defended his decision with all the bedside manner of a gorilla, and, without actually listening, stated that he had made his decision and nothing anyone said would change it.
