My name is Barry Cohen and I had my cataracts surgery on both eyes performed at Saint Lucie Eye Associates. I am sorry to say that for me it was a horrible experience! My original doctor there and the doctor that did my cataracts surgery on both eyes was Dr Derek Ohlstein. Since I make my living online I paid many thousands of dollars extra on top of the regular surgery cost to have multi-focal lenses implanted into my eyes because I was assured by Dr Ohlstein that with these lenses I would be able to see well at both distances for driving while also being able to read normal small type fonts both online and in reading materials such as in books, magazines and on labels. All Without Glasses! This is the bottom line! During the surgery, the FEMTO laser that they used to cut loose my eyes lenses, misfired or was not set properly as it left my right eye with a permanent blur spot in my field of vision. Also, both implant lenses were the wrong prescription because I now have to wear glass

I had my pupils dilated but they weren't dilated enough so Dr. Channon put more drops in my eyes. This was not even 10 minutes from the first drops that were put in. He seemed to be in a hurry and I soon found out why. He had changed into his golf clothes and brought in his duffle bag to the exam room. He explained that he did not want to miss playing golf. I've never seen a doctor do this before and was put off after that. The staff were courteous but I heard one of them griping over a patient who had called earlier. The exam door was left wide open and I was able to hear their conversation. Not professional at all.

I had been a patient of Dr Channon’s for over four years. His staff is very good but he runs his practice like an assembly line centered around him not patients. Lately with his retirement on the horizon all you get is a hurried counsel. I was talking to his back as he went out the door rushing to see the next person.Disrespectful. He is just building up hie retirement fund.
