I had hiatal hernia surgery by Dr.Ducoin in 2022 and he was the best he told my family that my stomach was starting to get twisted from the hernia because it was actually larger than he thought and if I had waited any longer I might not have been here today he has the best bedside manners I would highly recommend him to anyone thank you Dr.Ducoin.

Doctor Ducoin saved my life
I had gastric bypass about 18 years ago. I was having a terrible time eating due to a stricture that developed inhibiting me from eating anything more than soup broth mashed potatoes and a few other minute things. Me and my wife feared the worst that I would expire from not being able to eat. Doctor D and his team were incredible! Went in with robotic aid made the surgery time much shorter and a mountain of less pain. Original I had full slice and it hurt this one there is pain but nothing compared to last time. I am out of surgery and home less for days this was my choice to go home doc said I could have stayed longer if needed. I am managing my pain with over counter pain meds mostly as it is bearable. Been drinking my protein shakes like doc’s staff told me to. I even have a full guide of what to eat and what not to eat it’s awesome. The after care in hospital outstanding the staff came seen me from surgical team daily made me feel like I mattered. Can not thank Doctor Ducoin enoug

I don’t even know how or where to start with this review! First of all 5 stars are not enough! If I could give him a million, he earned every single one! Dr. Ducoin saved my life! I can’t begin to count the doctors that attempted to help, flat out said they couldn’t help & then those that said I should live with the pain or it was in my head! My surgery was 01/06/2023 & I still break down in tears. My problem has been going on for years, the last 7 being the worse. The last 2 years I have been unable to eat & could only sip when I drank anything. I was in constant pain, my quality of life was nonexistent. Believing I had a hernia I was referred to Dr. Ducoin. I am not going to slam my last surgeon on here because this is not a review of him, but my hero, Dr. Ducoin. I know Dr. Ducoin didn’t want to do this surgery because of ALL the risks & there were a ton. I knew the morning of surgery that I might be saying goodbye to those I love, but I also knew I was no longer living. Dr. Ducoin explained everything, even things I didn’t want to know, but he did it with compassion, concern. He, also, insisted on informing my family members of the risks. He asked to make sure I had a health care surrogate, my affairs were in order, my decisions made. I went in knowing that I might not make it & if I did my life might be totally different! My surgery was not only a success but better than any of us expected! I am 10 days post-op and feel better than I have in years! And, no it was not done laparoscopically, I have a big ole belly full of staples, but I feel great! This marvelous doctor saved my life, in a firm, informed & compassionate way! If you are looking for a GREAT doctor with a FABULOUS bedside manner, that CARES not only about the patient but the patient’s family, this is your doctor! I also have to commend everyone in his office! They are AMAZING! I have no complaints, not one! This doctor & his staff did what over 20 highly rated doctors, in Tampa Bay, couldn’t or wouldn’t do! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting this wife, mother, Gammie, hug her loved ones for years to come! Barbara (Jones) Keplinger

I would not recommend Dr. Du Coin. I had a VERY unsuccessful esophageal surgical experience that resulted in weeks in the hospital. He never followed my condition with phone calls or text even though I have continued spending months dealing with the many problems that resulted from his failed surgery.

Dr. DuCoin is the “Extraordinaire” in hiatal hernia repairs. After being advised that the likelihood of a subsequent repair from two previous procedures would be doubtful, he stepped in and performed an absolute miracle! His bedside professionalism and empathy shown towards me was unmatched. A shoutout goes to him and his entire staff!

Dr Ducoin is a fantastic surgeon, and I give him my highest recommendation. I had laparoscopic stomach surgery, and I recovered quickly. He prescribed medication for pain, nausea, and a laxative, none of which I ever needed. Every patient experience may be different, but I had an excellent experience and give Dr Ducoin thanks for such a wonderful job.

I met Dr. Ducoinin in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Ducoin said, “If nothing shows up on the tests, I will do an exploratory.” I completed the tests in about 4 month, nothing seemed problematic. He agreed to do the exploratory surgery. He had to remove a pelvic screen (hernia surgery-post 20 yrs) that had wrapped around the adhesions and the intestines. He had to re-work the intestines, cut out the screen and the adhesions. He described the main source of my pain area as “a ball the size of my closed fist”. What a mess. recovery went well, I was home in about 10 days I am beginning to like food again. I would like to thank the support team of USF Fellows and interns, the nurses both day and night staff and including the sanitizing team all at TGH were just absolutely amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better care/outcome of a really bad situation. Two words don’t seem to be enough, but THANK YOU "Job well done". BTW, Happy Doctor's Day (Friday, March 26th)

I had a recent revision surgery for a hiatal hernia and fundoplication from another surgeon. Anxiety and fear over another surgery melted away after Dr. Ducoin patiently spent time listening to my questions and explaining the surgical procedures. He spoke with me in the pre-op holding area and we agreed on a post-op hospital plan for pain control and nausea. He is indeed a skillful surgeon. I felt discomfort not pain and by my 4th day after surgery I was out of the house running errands with my husband. His staff quickly responds to My Chart questions. Care at TGH by nursing staff was superb.

I am 3 months post op gastric bypass patient. Dr. Duchoin is a ROCKSTAR! he is an analytic and forensic "listener". He wants to know what I'm feeling. Richly focused on pain management, and overall surgical care. Never in a hurray, and every question was treated thoughtfully. he has a team of "Best-in-Class" experts, most of whom he has trained. If you are a candidate for abdominal surgery, go no further than Chris Duchoin. I have over 11 surgeries behind me, and he is the absolute best there is.

I had aspiration pneumonia six times in 14 months and my pulmonary doctor suggested I have Nissen Fundioplication surgery to stop the acid reflux from invading my lungs. I researched and found the greatest references from friends and former patients who absolutely, highly recommended Dr. DuCoin. They were all right! He is not only a top-notch surgeon, but also has a warm and friendly bed-side manner. I was put at ease about the robotic procedure and the surgery went well and no complications!

I have suffered from reflux for over 20 years and also had an esophageal hernia. Dr. Ducoin performed surgery to rectify both. The surgery was a huge success, with just a 2 day stay in the hospital and little discomfort I am now experiencing life with no medication for my previous symptoms. I would highly recommend Dr. Ducoin and this particular surgery, it has truly been a life altering procedure and one that has made my quality of life 100% better! Betty Clement

The best doctor ever! I had a robotic assisted operation a month ago and EVERYTHING went smoothly. He, and his team, are competent, articulate, and are empathetic to my specific condition and needs before and after the operation. The operation was a complete success. I felt virtually no pain and very little soreness in recovery. My wife, normally suspicious of doctors, is completely won over by him. The surgery team were equally so. If you need a serious operation, "He's the MAN!"

Dr. Ducoin is possible the best Dr. my husband has ever seen. He's concise, informative, patient, and spends time with his patients. He even came out to the waiting room to get us when a appt. had been cancelled to talk with us. He explains things about esophagus cancer in layman terms so that we can understand what he's means. Wouldn't go to any other Doctor. Hiram Rivers Singleton, Bay St. Louis, Ms.
