Injection. that. same. day
This is the 2nd pain management doc I have seen and 8th doctor for my condition that no one could diagnose. After being misdiagnosed repeatedly 100% due to doctor negligence, he did the works. He listened to me, looked at my images, reports, provocation tests and actually touched me where it hurt. Not a single doctor had done all 3 in a consult. I was diagnosed and given a shot the same day to affirm his theory. I nearly cried in the office as prior docs would schedule me weeks out for injections. Im young, was very healthy and fell into chronic pain suddenly without clear cause. I had suffered terribly for months, couldn't work or function with zero answers and docs who couldn't care to do the basics. Doc Gharibo was the complete opposite, and he was able to diagnose me and set me on a treatment plan. His diagnosis was correct and I started to improve rapidly.

Arrived for 9:30 appointment, which was a brief consultation. I was referred for an epidural, but he said I should wait in the waiting room for three hours, which is when he would do it. I left. His explanations were brief and unsatisfactory. The scheduling was absurd.

Avoid! I saw him 3 years ago and because of NYU politics he is still blocking me from seeing other doctors at NYU (it is becoming more difficult to go outside NYU with the buying up practices with their huge endowment). He didn't listen to me when I told him I had already had epidural shots and they didn't work because he runs an epidural shot mill so everybody gets one whether they need it or not. After the shot he didn't return multiple emails asking what he had injected. More than one subsequent physician told me it was an inappropriate therapy but they couldn't go on record because Dr. Gharibo has too much clout.

Long wait to be seen. Expects the patient to get injection approvals from other doctors. Required an additional unnecessery office visit.

I have been a patient for several years after being treated by two other pain management specialists at elite NYC hospitals. I receive periodic treatments and work in the medical field. Dr. Gharibo is top notch and extremely clear in explaining all aspects of care.

Dr. Gharibo was vague and non specific. He had no advice or insights about what medications to use and when to mitigate pain and didn't seem particularly sympathetic about how debilitating the pain can be. don't think I have ever been less impressed by a ph

After seeing multiple physicians over the past 10 years, I was fortunate to meet Dr Gharibo. He successfully treated my pain symptoms on the very first visit. He is a kind, highly skilled physician and I highly recommend him.
