Dr. Gross is a wonderful surgeon. So very kind and has a great bedside manner. No one could ask for a more understanding and caring doctor. He explains everything thoroughly and answers all your questions. I recommend him highly to anyone needing his specialty.

Couldn't be happier
I can’t say enough good about Dr. Christopher Gross. I had a very complicated surgery that I was not comfortable with having done locally. I traveled 125 miles and it was well worth it. From the staff at the registration, to the ones assisting Dr. Gross, to Dr. Gross himself…. Awesome! From the first visit to evaluate the extent of my injury to the follow up after surgery…. Awesome! The surgery went very well. Following surgery I was contacted often to see how I was doing and I was able to text, which I did often, to ask questions. Some may feel Dr. Gross has poor bedside manners. I couldn’t disagree more. The day of the surgery he explained everything he would do. Afterwards he spent a few minutes to tell us how it went.At the follow up visit he was warm and friendly and came cross as genuinely concerned about me. This was a very hard surgery on me and I have had my share. But I am so glad Dr. Gross was my surgeon. I heartily recommend him to you!

AMAZING DOCTOR!
I was getting a second opinion from my surgery at Trident. Doctor Gross was amazing, down to earth, kind, caring and did not beat around the bush!! He also has an awesome sense of humor and bedside manner! He explained what the other Orthopedic Doc did and said he was amazed that they did a good job considering.. (I agree.. NEVER GO TO TRIDENT) and that is was exactly what he would have done. After my first visit here with him and his amazing staff.. HE IS NOW MY NEW ORTHOPEDIC FOOT DOCTOR!! THANK YOU GUY'S AND GAL'S FOR THE AMAZING CARE!! SEE YOU IN OCTOBER!

Best at MUSC
I have had surgery for the same thing twice. First time I was in a hurry and did not wait for doctor Gross but went with the other MUSC foot and ankle doctor. Just to have to do the same surgery again 9 months later. If you have the time then wait for Dr Gross if you want it done right the first time !

It was as an independent doctor visit to see what is going on and if there are any recommendations. This doctor just told me what to do, asked some basic questions, and asked me to do certain things, for which I could not do some of them due to the pain. Also explained the numbness with my feet and toes. The doctor just spoke to the intern who was there to just type everything the doctor was saying. He then walked out and didn’t tell me his findings and refuses to put my medical information or tell me what his findings were. I can’t even access them in Mychart at MUSC. Who can I speak to about getting my medical information and notes for that day.

Dr Gross didn’t discuss the results of my MRI or examine my feet which have been in severe pain. On three occasions he mentioned he was going to order “white powder” for my feet which would magically take away the pain. After he mentioned it the third time I asked him if it was magnesium. He said yes. He never ordered any “white powder”. I felt very disrespected. I drove two hours for 0 ideas or solutions and what felt like a joke.

Excellent care for complex ankle injury
After a combat injury in 2010, I was told for years by military orthopedic physicians that I was as healed as I would ever get. As a final attempt to get the care I desired, I was referred to Dr Gross, and couldn’t be more pleased. Dr Gross is, by far, the most competent and caring Orthopedic surgeon I’ve encountered in my long medical history. He’s performed 2 procedures on me, and I couldn’t see many other physicians doing nearly as good a job on such a complex injury as mine. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Know that if he is performing a procedure for you, that you are in very capable hands. I trust him implicitly!

So this review may be a little different as my surgery performed by Dr. Gross was two years ago. A total ankle fusion on a now 65 yr old man. My delay is based on the long term outcome. I'm a Fitbit watch guy and religiously track my activity. Since my surgery I've logged over 4,000 miles. Please understand, my foot prior to surgery was out of line and painful when walking. I was a career Electrical Lineman that experienced many sprains. Now, I'm pretty normal except no running which I do not miss at all. I was very hesitant to go for the fusion and had tryed two prior corrective surgeries that both failed. My outcome was very positive. I truly trust Dr. Gross's guidance and surgical skills. My advise if your the patient, control your weight as I did and have, PT is your friend and know that your recovery takes some time but worth it to get mobility back. Great Doctor!

He and his staff are amazing! He listened to me and understood my desire to return to an active lifestyle after an injury. I went from ankle surgery to running an ultra endurance run in just over 8 months. I’m thankful that he didn’t lessen his expectations or treatment based on my age.

Dr Gross is superb! An excellent surgeon. I will say, he was a bit slow to diagnose my ankle but he finally did surgery and I'm really happy with the end result. I'm walking and running again! YAY However Ryan .. really it may be time for you to move on. You lack compassion for how painful foot and ankle surgery can be. You act bothered by patient questions and pain, which you are there to address. There are some Truly Grand PAs in the Charleston area, but you are not one of them. Direct patient care is definitely NOT your forte! Please move on. Dr Gross deserves better!! OMy YES

I am a career ortho patient and can honestly say that Dr. Gross is the best orthopedist I have ever seen. He patiently talked me through the process of having cheilectomy surgery on both feet, after I had avoided the surgery for years because I was so anxious about it. Not only is he awesome to talk to, he has so much skill. I had basically no post surgical pain, have had beautiful results (I can wear regular shoes again!) and I am so happy. Highly recommend Dr. Gross!

I just had my last follow up visit with Dr Gross and and words simply cannot express the kindness and helpfulness he has shown me. He listens to the patient. He told me all we can do is try to see if surgery will help me. He left that decision to me. He ruled out so much and found answers to a lot of my pain. It was the right choice for me.

Although I like Dr. Gross and think he is a very good person. His office staff is awful. His ma or assistant Ryan is condescending and quite frankly rude. Being in the medical field myself I understand that there are days that you just cannot to get everything done. There’s only so much you can do but the fact that I am 39 days post op of what was described as an easy procedure and cannot walk at all but have yet to get much guidance from anyone in the office. I am currently looking for a new dr
