Great Surgeon but....
Dr. Schmidt is a good surgeon, but after surgery, him and his team did not want offer any support. Post-Op visits were approx. 3 minutes long only telling me it looks good. Never told me what I can or cannot do, what to avoid etc.. When I went to ask questions, he was already out of the room. I have been relying solely on my OT to help me with ALL of my questions as when you call to ask the PA, she doesn't give you the time of day. Immediately after surgery when I was in a lot of pain, and had questions about the paperwork and with numbness, she was blatantly rude to me and offered no assistance. In my opinion, basically, once the surgery was completed, there is no help from the Dr. or medical staff. The only positive experience, was the Pre-Op team, the medical staff at the surgery center and the appointments personnel. Disappointed.

If I could rate him 10 stars, I would. Saw 2 other “shoulder specialists” about my massive rotator cuff tear and torn bicep before I sought a 3rd opinion from Dr Schmidt. So thankful that I did. He’s a miracle worker from my standpoint. Extremely intelligent and takes time to thoroughly explain his plan, the outcome, and what to expect post-surgery. I highly recommend Dr Schmidt based on my experience. Everyone told me how brutal and painful shoulder surgery would be but due to his flawless execution, its been extremely tolerable.

I saw Dr. Schmidt on 7-23 after continued shoulder pain after two surgeries performed by a different surgeon. Dr. Schmidt identified a problem that the first surgeon had missed on an mra that was done before the second surgery. Dr. Schmidt performed surgery on 8-5 and corrected all of the problems with my shoulder. I wish that I had gone to Dr. Schmidt in the first place.

Takes time to explain problem and how to resolve it. Wait time is not bad in waiting room and exam room (15 min.) Not quick to want to do surgery, will try PT or other options first. Impressed by his approach to the patient.Felt very informed after my visit.
